Deven Karandikar - STACK Basketball Athlete
At STACK we love to see the progression that our players make over a period of time. Deven has been a committed STACK player for multiple seasons now. In that time he has grown into a strong player and a leader on the court. Deven has been able to transform himself as a player by staying committed to the program and taking advantage of all of our training opportunities we offer.  He shows up everyday with a positive attitude and most importantly has fun while he is here. Many young athletes today get discouraged by hardship and want to quit or switch teams. Deven stayed committed to his goals and showed up everyday ready to work. We are very proud of the progress Deven has made and are excited to see what the future holds for him.

What's going on?
This week at STACK we entered our first full week of practice of the 2018-2019 Winter AAU Season. The coaches have been very pleased with the effort all the athletes have brought to practice everyday. We look to carry this energy into our opening games this weekend. The coaching staff is very excited for our players to have the opportunity to use all that hard work in a game situation. If you are looking for an extra workout this weekend be sure to check out our skills academy or dribbling and shooting classes, which are great opportunities to get some skill work in.

Tips for Sports Parents
As we enter our first round of games this weekend it is important to speak to your child about sportsmanship. This is one of our core values at STACK. We want all our athletes to understand the importance of conducting themselves appropriately in sports. Players at all times should show respect for opponents, teammates, coaches and officials. Sportsmanship starts with the players parents. Be sure to always be encouraging and cheering on your child in a positive manner. Kids see more than we think. If you are acting inappropriately on the sideline it could negatively affect your child. To learn more about the STACK philosophy check out a free copy of "Youth Sports Done Right"
Tips for Players
Stay In The Moment......
AT STACK we want to teach our players the importance of focus. Learning to stay in the moment at practice is a critical skill. One way to make sure you are always focused is to watch the player in front of you. If the player in front of you makes a mistake and the coach corrects them, you should not make that same mistake. This will not only help the team save time but also show the coach are you paying attention. Little things like that are quick ways for you young players to make big improvements quickly.

Did you know?
On Saturday December 8, 2018 Coach Ryan's alma mater Caldwell University dedicated the home basketball court his former Coach Mark A. Corino. Coach Corino is the 2nd winningest coach in NJ college history with 563 wins. He had a tremendous impact on Ryan as a coach and how he runs the STACK Basketball Program. Coach Corino's ability to impact every player he coaches is what sports are all about. At STACK we want to make sure your child learns valuable life lessons from our staff. We want your child's experience at STACK to help them not only develop on the court but become better people off the court as well.
