Ben Wichard - Senior Mahwah High School
In a world of instant gratification many young athletes have lost the ability to work hard towards a long-term goal. Ben is not one of them. Ben has been apart of the STACK program for many years going back to OBC days. He has always been the hardest worker in the room. He never complained he just showed up everyday and worked to get better. Now entering his senior season at Mahwah HS he has been selected as a team captain. Ben is the kind of player coaches want to have on the team. He represents not only what it means to be a leader and a great teammate but also represents the values we teach our players here at STACK. We are very proud of the great things this young athlete has accomplished and all that lies ahead for him.

What's going on?
Right now at STACK, we are tipping off the Winter 2018-2019 AAU season. We are very excited about the teams we have and the great players in our program. These players will spend the winter working hard and having fun. Our STACK basketball players have options to come to practices and training up to 7 days a week and many of them are taking advantage of the flexibility to get extra work in. The winter season is also a very good time for players to attend private basketball training, our  Basketball Skills Academy and/or sports performance training classes to continue towards becoming the best athlete they can be.
Tips for Sports Parents
In today's day and age a lot of parents are very hard on their children and expect them to be great at things from the beginning. It is a challenging part being a sports parent but at STACK we want to challenge you to be your child's biggest fan instead of their biggest critic. If they miss a shot or dribble the ball off their foot, let's encourage them to go get the next play and not to worry about the mistake. We want our parents to tell our players how much they love watching them play instead of what they did wrong on the court. Then to always encourage practicing to get better and having fun when playing.

Tips for Players
Being on time means being early....
Coaches like players who want to be at practice and take the time to prepare themselves. One way to distinguish your self as a player to a coach is to always be early to practices and games. This shows the coach that you value your time with the team and want to get the most out of it. Players who show up late often cause distractions to the team and are unable to remain focused. Make an effort to be early to all games and practices and your coach is sure to notice.
Did you know?
We are very excited about our new girls coach, Lauren Giaccio. Coach Lauren brings years of experience and basketball knowledge to our girls program. A former standout high school basketball player at Fair Lawn High School, Coach Lauren understands what it takes to be successful at a high level. In addition coach Lauren competed in many of the top AAU basketball tournaments in the country. Her experience as a player allows her to relate to each athlete and help motivate them to reach their goals. We are very excited about the expertise she will bring to our girls program.
