Dan Sweeney - Senior Mahwah High School
In a world full of young and talented athletes, nobody wants to work hard to get where they want to be. Danny is the opposite of the "normal kid." Danny has been dedicated to the STACK program all the way back when he was in 5th grade and it was called OBC. You can always find Danny at STACK working out and chasing his goals of becoming the best player he can be. He is a disciplined well mannered athlete, who has a work ethic that not only gives him success on the basketball court but is setting him up to be a high level achiever in life. Danny is a role model at STACK, as he teaches many of the younger STACK players. Danny is entering his senior campaign at Mahwah were he is a team Captain. We want to wish Danny the best of luck in this upcoming season. We are very proud to have an athlete like Danny representing STACK.

What's going on?
Right now at STACK, we have various different events taking place. This past weekend we had our inter-squad basketball games. We were very pleased with the results from the games and got to get a better understanding of what our teams need to work on in practice this week.  Our STACK basketball players have options to come to practices and training up to 7 days a week and many of them are taking advantage of the flexibility to get extra work in. The fall season is also a very good time for players to attend private basketball training, our  Basketball Skills Academy and/or sports performance training classes to prepare for the winter season.

Tips for Sports Parents
In today's day and age a lot of parents are very hard on their children and expect them to be great at things from the beginning. It is a challenging part being a sports parent but at STACK we want to challenge you to be your child's biggest fan instead of their biggest critic. If they miss a shot or dribble the ball off their foot, let's encourage them to go get the next play and not to worry about the mistake. We want our parents to tell our players how much they love watching them play instead of what they did wrong on the court. Then to always encourage practicing to get better and having fun when playing.

Tips for Players
Be First In Line
A great way for a player to distinguish himself from the rest of the team is to be the first in line in everything you do.  Whether it is in practice while doing a drill or being the first one back from a water break.  This shows coaches that you care about what is going on and shows that you are interested and coachable. Players that are in the front of the line improve faster then the ones who are not because they are ready to execute the coaches instructions.

Did you know?
We are very excited about our new Coach, Terrelle Myers. Coach Terrelle is a very enthusiastic and energetic coach that has a great way of teaching and demonstrating his basketball skill to our STACK players. Terrelle has been around the game for over 20 years. Terrelle was offered scholarships to various programs including FDU and StonyBrook. Alongside of coaching AAU teams at STACK, Terrelle will be doing private and group sessions as well. We are sure you will see him around and he is looking forward to it!
