Subject: Why the Lightning Talks Are Always the First Sessions to Fill

These are practical tactics that are hard to find anywhere else

The Lightning Talks Alone Are Worth the Trip

Hello to my friends in the Plex/2E User Community,

Every year, without fail, the same thing happens at our conference.

The keynotes are polished. The product sessions are informative. The workshops are hands-on and practical. But when I ask attendees afterward what they are still thinking about on the flight home, the answer is almost always a Lightning Talk.

Not because the speaker was the most credentialed person in the room. Not because the topic was the most technically ambitious. But because someone stood up and said: here is something I discovered, here is how it changed the way I work, and I think it might change the way you work too.

That is a hard thing to replicate in any other format.

What you actually get from a Lightning Talk session:

In fifteen minutes, a community member can show you a technique you have been reinventing from scratch for years. They can hand you a shortcut that saves hours. They can surface an approach to a problem you did not even know you had. One that was sitting right there in the tool you use every day.

Multiply that by a full session of Lightning Talks, and you leave with a notebook full of ideas you can actually use when you get back to the office.

These are not theoretical presentations. They come from practitioners working in the same environments you work in, on the same platforms, with the same constraints. That specificity is the point.

We still have a few open slots.

If you have been following this series of emails and thinking "I have something like that", this is the moment. Our deadline is fast approaching, and we are looking for speakers in:

  • 2E – Tips and Techniques

  • 2E – Show and Tell

  • Plex – Tips and Techniques

  • Plex – Show and Tell

Email me at Roger@Plex2E.com. No formal proposal required. Just tell me what you are thinking about sharing.

And if you are not quite ready to speak this year, I hope this gives you one more reason to make sure you are in the room in Nashville on August 31.

The Lightning Talks alone are worth the trip.

Warm regards,

Roger Griffith
