COMMON Navigate 2022 Survey Results Are In

We met at COMMON Navigate 2022 earlier this month, and you were kind enough to fill out our conference survey. Thank you!

Fortunately, like you, a good number of conference attendees took a few minutes to give us some thoughtful input about the critical technologies that they use to manage their enterprise mainframes.

So we would like to share some of the results with you down below after a quick word about a webinar we think you might be interested in coming up November 2nd.
Webinar
CM evolveIT for IBM i with VS Code and Git
November 2nd, 10 a.m. CT

Get your virtual seat for the CM evolveIT for IBM i webinar, including COBOL, RPG, CA 2E (Synon) and much more. You will see advanced code analysis capabilities that go far beyond what has been previously available, including VS Code and Git Integration.

CM evolveIT is an advanced application static analysis technology used for modernization and maintenance of Legacy IBM i Midrange Applications: COBOL, RPG, CA 2E(Synon), CA Plex, LANSA, and Java applications.

Survey Results...

Our first question asked respondents which mainframe databases their company works with.

Conference survey respondents manage 2 database technologies on average, with 84% using DB2 with either DDS or SQL (usually both). SQL Server and Oracle rounded out the remainder at 15%.

Our follow-up question asked which mainframe software languages their organization works with.

The majority work with RPG, and many work with an additional language like COBOL or Java.

We also asked conference attendees which Mainframe DevOps Area Products their organization works with.

Most organizations stick with a single technology to manage their DevOps, with IBM Rational taking the top spot. Many use an in-house process.

To round out our questionnaire, we asked which Mainframe Impact Analysis tools are you using?

Most use either standard IBM OS built-in tools or Hawkeye/Pathfinder. Some use IBM Rational or X Analysis. Many use 2-3 different tools to get the job done.
We hope these results provide useful insight. We are forever grateful for your time, and we look forward to seeing you at the next conference!
