Far from becoming a relic, mainframes continue to power the foundation of much of our critical systems. While the cloud and alternative platforms continue to rise, the on-premise mainframe continues to grow as well, with a distinct modernization path of it's own.
According to an October report by BMC, most IT managers hold a positive view of mainframes and consider it a “long-term platform that is growing and adding new workloads.”
