Monolithic thinking

Now that the new year is underway, it's time to start thinking big.

So we found an article in DevOps digest that outlines the practical considerations when thinking about implementing microservices and the path to breaking down your monolith into smaller, more agile parts.

Read more down below for that, updates on the spring CA 2E CA Plex conference coming up in May, and some articles on AI, ransomware, and programming languages we love to hate.

IMPORTANT PSA: Early Bird discount pricing for the aforementioned CA 2E CA Plex Spring Conference is ending at midnight tonight, Jan 31st, so get your tickets now before the price goes up.

Monoliths vs. Microservices

Microservices gained traction in 2013 when Docker was released, and hasn't looked back since.

For IT Managers sitting on a monolith, the question looms larger every day as the microservices technology becomes more mature and commonplace: how much do I adopt microservices, and where's a good place to start?

Do I want more agility and flexibility, but more complexity? Or do I want more simplicity and performance?

The considerations are many and well documented in this DevOps Digest article by Terence Wong.
