Cracking the Code: Understanding Technical Differences Between COBOL and Java

IT managers and engineers who manage COBOL systems have a unique modernization challenge in front of them. One popular path to bring modern features like portability and rich web connectivity to COBOL applications is to convert the COBOL app to Java.

But before you embark on such a project, there are some key differences to think about if you're experienced with COBOL, but not so much Java.

For one, COBOL, despite being an older language, is admired for its support of fixed-length records and extensive compatibility with databases and files. However, Java, a more contemporary language, is praised for its versatile range of data structures and commanding use of object-oriented programming, which enables the construction of intricate data structures and robust applications.

Look for a heads up on these important factors and more in our recent article.

Can new advances in AI bring the ‘human touch’ chatbots are sorely missing?

Chatbots, in their utopian state, promise to take the pain out of customer service calls for organizations of all types, for both the customer and the company. Unfortunately, we're far from the ideal with the current Chatbot 1.0 and its lack of nuance or ability to make quick decisions with new information.

Do recent advancements in AI now give us the ability to add that needed human touch?
