Hey Friend,
You may have seen some chatter recently about IBM's plans for the PL/I Compiler, and what it could mean for CA 2E environments. I wanted to reach out directly, because if you've had that question in the back of your mind, you're not alone, and there's a clear answer.
I put together a short piece walking through it: How to Read IBM's Product Lifecycle Signals (Without Losing Sleep). The short version is that CA 2E depends on the PL/I Runtime, not the Compiler, a position Broadcom's own CA 2E product team has confirmed directly. The piece also covers how to read vendor lifecycle announcements generally, so the next rumor doesn't need its own explainer either.
If you still have questions, or just want to hear it straight from the source, this year's CA 2E/CA Plex Worldwide Conference is the place to do it. Senior technical leaders from both Broadcom and IBM will be there, including a joint Broadcom/IBM keynote on roadmaps and technical direction.
August 31–September 2, Nashville. You can join us in person, or attend virtually with a free Keynote Virtual Pass if travel isn't in the cards this year.
