Gift Cards  â€˘ Merchandise  â€˘ Donations

Greetings, Cinemapolitans,

We are heading into the weekend with another FOUR new additions to our slate of virtual cinema titles arriving on Friday.

We're also heading into an EXCITING construction project at the cinema. The renovations of our bathrooms have begun, and will include new counters, new lighting, and all new TOUCH FREE fixtures throughout. We've raised more than 80% of the $50,000 needed to fund this very important project, and we can use YOUR help to get over the finish line. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to support these improvements. When we can re-open the theater, we'll be ready to provide an extra safe environment for staff and patrons alike.

And speaking of safety - if you want to be stylishly safe, you can visit our new ONLINE MERCH STORE  to pick up one of our BRANDITO facemasks for delivery right to your door. Whether here in town, or anywhere around the globe, showing off your love of Ithaca’s Member Supported Art House Cinema will make you look and feel classy!

As always, the full listing of all current and upcoming virtual films, including those titles ending tomorrow, can be found on our Virtual Cinema page.

“Watching this thrilling, energetic doc feels like taking a swim in John le Carré’s brain.”

The story of the 1953 Anglo – American coup in Iran that overthrew the democratically elected Prime Minister Mossadegh and reinstalled the Shah. Featuring never seen before archive which had been hidden for decades. While making a documentary about the Anglo – American coup in Iran in 1953, Iranian director Taghi Amirani and editor Walter Murch discover extraordinary never seen before archive material hidden for decades. The 16mm footage and documents not only allow the filmmakers to tell the story of the overthrow of the Iranian government in unprecedented detail, but also lead to explosive revelations about dark secrets buried for 67 years.

“A brilliant mixture of historical-poetic analysis and a ground-level journey among the denizens of Havana. The director’s remarkable eye…will mesmerize you.”

An immersive and metaphorical portrait of post-colonial, “utopian” Cuba, where the 1898 explosion of the USS Maine still resonates. This Big Bang ended Spanish colonial dominance in the Americas and ushered in the era of the American Empire. At the same time and place, a powerful tool of conquest was born: cinema as propaganda. Hubert Sauper explores a century of interventionism and myth-making together with the extraordinary people of Havana to interrogate time, imperialism and cinema itself.

“Visually stimulating and exhaustively covers much of the record industry with keen interest. It takes the macro to a personal level. That is quite a feat.”

Vinyl Nation digs into the crates of the record resurgence in search of truths set in deep wax: Has the return of vinyl made music fandom more inclusive or divided? What does vinyl say about our past here in the present? How has the second life of vinyl changed how we hear music and how we listen to each other?
