Greetings Cinemapolitans!

Two highly anticipated openers arrive on our screens this Friday:
  • A big hit at this year's Sundance, Tickled is the debut documentary from David Farrier and Dylan Reeve. What starts as a quirky online investigation into "competitive tickling" quickly falls down a twisty rabbit hole of exploitation, internet extortion, and federal crimes. Adam Graham of the Detroit News calls it "an investigative thriller that unravels the deep web of lies, threats and deceit that festers in the dark corners of the internet, and shows how online behavior can have damaging, real-world implications."

  • Also coming this weekend is The Innocents, the brillant new War-era drama from French auteur Anne Fonataine (Gemma Bovery, CoCo Before Chanel). Based on real events inside a Polish convent in 1945, the film follows a young Red Cross doctor as she assists a group of nuns assaulted by Soviet soldiers. A New York Times Critic's Pick, Stephen Holden calls it "blistering" and a "tough, troubling film whose images of brutality and helplessness are hard to shake."  Don't miss this limited engagement.
While you're planning your next week at the movies, be sure to catch Music of Strangers and Wiener-Dog soon. They both leave THIS Thursday, July 14th!

 See you at the movies!
