Subject:Â đŸŽ„ Cinemapolis - Stunning Japanese Animation and Raucous Romanian Cinema Arrives 1/14

Greetings Cinemapolitans!

National Theatre Live charges into 2022 this week with another award winning favorite.

Captured live from London’s West End in 2018, see Ian McKellen’s ‘extraordinarily moving portrayal’ (Independent) of King Lear. Considered by many to be the greatest tragedy ever written, King Lear sees two ageing fathers – one a King, one his courtier – reject the children who truly love them. Their blindness unleashes a tornado of pitiless ambition and treachery, as family and state are plunged into a violent power struggle with bitter ends.

Two chances to see it — Thursday, January 13 at 6:30 pm, and again on Saturday, January 15 at 1:30.

It's another premiere weekend, so you should get in soon to catch C'Mon C'Mon, Nightmare Alley, and Red Rocket. They have their final screenings on Thursday, January 13th!

OPENING FRIDAY, JANUARY 14

Emi, a school teacher, finds her career and reputation under threat after a personal sex tape is leaked on the Internet. Forced to meet the parents demanding her dismissal, Emi refuses to surrender to their pressure. Radu Jude (Aferim!) delivers an incendiary mix of unconventional form, irreverent humor and scathing commentary on hypocrisy and prejudice in our societies.

The new year brings new detours to get to the cinema. During the current phase of utility installation for the Asteri Ithaca project, the Green Street Crosswalk will re-open, and all patrons should enter the cinema from the South using that method.

Access from the north (The Commons) will be blocked, so patrons should follow the Commons to Cayuga Street and cross at the library.

If you need to drop off another patron, there are passenger drop off parking spaces across the street in front off Urban Outfitters.

Hope to see you at the movies again soon!

Executive Director
