Subject: Free resources for July's character focus

This month's character focus is Discretion: "The ability to avoid words, actions, and attitudes which could result in undesirable consequences"

This month, our character focus is Discretion. The operational definition of discretion is “the ability to avoid words, actions, and attitudes that could result in undesirable consequences.”

We can practice discretion by thoughtfully considering possible consequences before taking action. We should value silence, allow ourselves to think before we speak, and then after we speak, allow the hearer to consider the message. The way we behave should be cautious and thoughtful, not reckless and impulsive, because we know careless actions often hurt people and damage relationships.

How do we know which choices are best? As we apply the wisdom found in God’s Word and learn from experience, God will enable us to rightly discern what words, actions, and attitudes are most appropriate in any situation.

Here are some free resources to help your family study discretion this month.
