Subject: Free resources for July’s character focus

This month’s character focus is Availability: “Making my own schedule and priorities secondary to the wishes of those I am serving”

This month, our character focus is Availability. The operational definition of availability is “making my own schedule and priorities secondary to the wishes of those I am serving.”

The goal of teaching availability is to prepare children to be willing to set aside what they are doing to respond to another’s need. This study highlights the “Here am I” response of God’s faithful servants who counted it a privilege to be involved in the Lord’s work.

Children are encouraged to overcome the natural inclination to care only for their own interests by submitting to God and esteeming others as more important than themselves. As we catch the vision to serve Christ by serving others, we can respond joyfully, no matter when God’s call may come.

Each booklet in the comprehensive children’s curriculum contains four complete lessons. A lesson is comprised of a Bible story and questions, a memory verse, and a craft or activity. The character quality is reinforced with a corresponding hymn history and sheet music, an overview of the character quality, and suggested resources for further study. Through this study, children are encouraged to overcome the natural inclination to care only for their own interests by submitting to God and esteeming others as more important than themselves.
