Subject: Free resources for January's character focus

This month's character focus is Responsibility: "Knowing and doing what both God and others are expecting of me"

This month, our character focus is Responsibility. The operational definition of responsibility is “knowing and doing what both God and others are expecting of me.”

We can know what God expects from us by reading His Word. As we obey His Word, we will also fulfill our duties toward others, such such as loving them, forgiving them, and meeting their practical needs.

Knowing and doing what God expects of us will prepare us for the day of accountability. Romans 14:12 says, “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”

  • Do you search God’s Word and yield to what He would have you to think, say, and do?

  • As you approach each situation or task, do you apply yourself with a good attitude?

  • Do you complete your responsibilities wholeheartedly, knowing that you serve the Lord and that He is your Rewarder?

If these things are true of you, then when your works are tested, you will be able to joyfully receive lasting rewards from your Savior. No earthly praise will bring greater joy than hearing Christ say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant . . . enter thou into the joy of thy Lord” (Matthew 25:21).

This free download includes a few sample parts of a lesson. Each booklet in the comprehensive children’s curriculum contains four complete lessons. A lesson is comprised of a Bible story and questions, a memory verse, and a craft or activity. The character quality is reinforced with a corresponding hymn history and sheet music, an overview of the character quality, and suggested resources for further study. This study teaches children to understand that God, Who sees in secret, is the ultimate Rewarder, and they will be motivated to be faithful with the opportunities entrusted to them.
