Subject: Looking Back on 2025: Grief, Resistance, and Hope

Dear Friends,

We close this year with mixed emotions. We are grieving the appalling attack on the Jewish community in Sydney, which targeted a Hanukkah celebration. There can be no reasoning or justification for the killing of Jews, and we stand in full solidarity with the grieving families and community.

At the same time, we feel a quiet sense of relief that the military bombardment in Gaza has stopped. Yet this relief is overshadowed by deep anger and heartbreak: millions of people are living in rain-soaked tents, enduring cold, hunger, trauma, and profound insecurity and over 300 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire was declared. We are also outraged by the ongoing violence in the West Bank, where settlers continue to terrorise Palestinians in their own homes - undermining livelihoods, education, safety, and the right to remain on their land.

We do not compare grief. We live in a reality where multiple truths exist at once, and all demand our attention.

And still, alongside the pain, there is pride - and hope. In a year marked by devastation and division, we have accomplished so much. We remained strong as a united movement of Palestinians and Israelis, choosing partnership even as many insist it is wrong, unrealistic, or should not exist.

What follows is a snapshot of what we achieved together this year.

As the year comes to a close, we want to say thank you. To all of you who supported us, stood with our calls for nonviolence and justice, and remained committed to a shared future. We enter 2026 with hope - for a time when more people recognise our shared belonging to this land, choose to be part of the solution, and dare to see beyond fear toward a just and peaceful future.

Consider ending the year with a donation, so we can prepare for the year ahead and strengthen a Palestinian–Israeli movement many still say is impossible.

To all those celebrating we would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hannukah filled with light, courage, and resilience.
