Subject: Help Children from Gaza Today - Emergency Assistance, Shared Resistance

Dear Friend,

No one wins in war. But some suffer more than others. And no one bears the cost more heavily than children.

On October 7th, Israeli children were subjected to unimaginable violence. Young lives were brutally taken. Others lost parents, grandparents and siblings, or were kidnapped and held hostage. For those who survived, the trauma of what they saw and endured will remain with them for life. At Combatants for Peace, we mourn every child lost and stand with every child who lived through the horror of that day and the violence that followed.

And in Gaza, we are witnessing a tragedy so vast it’s difficult to comprehend or find the words needed to express ourselves. It is estimated that over 18,000 children have been killed. Their homes, schools, and playgrounds were obliterated. Entire generations wiped out. Families have been decimated — often, the only survivor is a child left orphaned and alone. We are outraged by the world’s ongoing failure to protect these children — a failure compounded by the lack of sustained international pressure to uphold even the most basic protections for civilian life.

And for the children who have survived the bombings, survival does not mean safety. It means hunger, displacement, untreated wounds, and the ache of constant fear. Gaza’s health system has collapsed, food supplies are deliberately restricted, and aid convoys are routinely blocked. Malnutrition has become widespread, with babies and toddlers suffering irreversible damage to their growth and development. They scream from hunger their parents cannot soothe. The war has not ended, it has only changed form. Now, it is waged through siege, through starvation, through the slow death of hope. And once again, it is children who are paying the highest and most unbearable price.

We are doing what we can to support the children that we can reach.

In March 2024, 68 orphaned children, aged 2 to 14, were evacuated from Rafah with the consent of their guardians, and brought to temporary care in Bethlehem, in the occupied West Bank. This rescue was made possible through coordination with the German government and Israeli authorities.

These children carry unimaginable trauma. The psychological scars of war — especially when inflicted in early childhood — can take years to heal. Many are likely to experience anxiety, aggression, insomnia, nightmares, and deep emotional withdrawal. Recovery will not be quick. But it begins with stability, safety, care — and kindness.

Soon, the school year will begin. These 68 children, who have lost so much, deserve to start this chapter with dignity. We want to provide them with school bags, clothes, lunchboxes, and the joy of new supplies — not just for practical needs, but as an expression of love, and a reminder that they are cherished, valued, and not alone.

Over 190 people have already joined our summer campaign - 'Emergency Assistance, Shared Resistance'. Will you join them?

Please donate today to help us supply these children with the essentials they need — and the care they deserve. In doing so, you’ll be helping to rebuild not only lives, but hope.

If you’ve already made a gift, we’re deeply grateful. You can make an even bigger impact by sharing this campaign with a friend.

As we hold these children and their stories close, we know the need for solidarity and listening is more urgent than ever. As part of our summer campaign, we’ll be hosting intimate, virtual gatherings to hear directly from activists on the ground.

The first gathering centers Palestinian activists from Tulkarem Refugee Camp.

We hope you'll join us on August 13th — save the date and register below.
