Dear Friends of CfP,
As the days pass and our work only intensifies we are grateful for your solidarity, hope and partnership in our movement for peace and justice in Israel/Palestine. We are excited to announce the next event, exclusively for our Friends of CfP network:
Elie Avidor & Carly Rosenthal September 17th - 7:00pm Jerusalem time (online)
The current situation in the Jordan Valley in the West Bank has become so unbearable for Palestinian communities, to the point that families are packing up and leaving due to the violence of settlers and the military. Others who remain face the threat of demolitions, evictions and violent attacks.
In this informal community gathering, we will speak to Elie Avidor, longtime Israeli activist who is on the ground doing protective presence with local residents in the Northern Jordan Valley.
Elie Avidor - A former soldier in the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Elie fought and was injured while serving in the elite Golani Brigade. After witnessing the Israeli-Palestinian Joint Memorial Ceremony, he joined Combatants for Peace and became active in the struggle against the injustices of the occupation. He is a member of the Jordan Valley Activists, who organise Israeli activists for protective presence shifts with Palestinian communities facing settler and military violence in the Northern Jordan Valley.
Carly Rosenthal (moderator) - Born in Melbourne, Australia, Carly grew up in the Jewish community and moved to Israel/Palestine in 2018. She has been involved in peace activism and conflict resolution with Palestinians and Israelis over the past decade; as a tour guide, informal educator, community builder and content creator. She is the Social Media and Fundraising Manager at CfP. |
