Films for Freedom. We’re excited to wrap up the festival with a special screening of the film Hurdle at 1pm ET / 8pm Jerusalem, followed by a Q&A session with the film's director, Michael Rowley, and CfP activist Mai Shahin.

Michael Rowley is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, cinematographer, and editor living in Dallas, Texas. Often touting a one-camera approach, themes of justice, human connectivity, and harrowing circumstances emerge throughout his films. Register to watch the film & join the Q&A session that will follow.

Films for Freedom: Hurdle

Wednesday, August 28th

1pm ET / 8pm Jerusalem

Please note that we will not be sending a recording of the live film screening.

Hurdle offers a powerful glimpse into life under military occupation. Through the eyes of Palestinian youth, the film showcases how they confront a world of walls, checkpoints, and arrests in ways that are both unexpected and inspiring. Hurdle's protagonists, Sami and Mohammad, begin teaching the creative practices of parkour and photography to young people in their communities as a means to overcome the personal and political obstacles that often feel inescapable. Though these young men are separated by a wall, they are united in leading the next generation toward freedom and self-determination through creative practices.

With its stunning visuals, intimate storytelling, and dynamic scenes, the award-winning Hurdle provides a fresh look at the long-standing conflict. It invites us to reflect on how the next generation will address the legacies of wars and walls they inherit and find ways to practice their freedom. Watch the trailer here.

Invite a friend to watch the film together! We hope to see you soon.
