Dear friends,

We're excited to announce our Summer CollectiveEd Series "Films for Freedom" where we will be hosting an online screening of three different films that will inspire, challenge and spark conversation about Israel and Palestine. Register to receive the link to watch the film and then join us for a conversation online to dive deeper into the issues with special guests - including directors and cast from the films. Our first film is Israelism. The virtual event is July 17th at 8pm Jerusalem and you can watch the film anytime from registration until the event.

Films for Freedom: Israelism

Wednesday, July 17

1pm ET / 8pm Jerusalem

Israelism follows two young American Jews - Simone and Eitan - who are raised to defend the state of Israel at all costs. Eitan joins the Israeli military. Simone supports Israel on "the other battlefield": America’s college campuses. When they witness Israel’s mistreatment of the Palestinian people with their own eyes, they are horrified and heartbroken. Watch as they join the movement of young American Jews battling the old guard over Israel’s centrality in American Judaism, and demanding freedom for the Palestinian people.

On July 17th, hear from filmmaker and director, Erin Axelman, as well as Israelism cast members and activists, Simone Zimmerman and Sami Awad. Our conversation will be moderated by Israelism producer and AFCFP board member, Gili Getz.

Invite a friend to watch the film and join the webinar, we look forward to meeting online.

Last week on 1.7 we co-hosted the "It's Time" peace rally in Tel Aviv, where over 6000 people gathered and many joined virtually to call for an end to the war, an end the occupation and in favour of a political solution that brings peace, safety and equality to all peoples between the river and the sea.

The event was a unique opportunity for people of different backgrounds - Jewish, Muslim, Christian, secular, religious, Israeli, Palestinian, Bedouin... to speak in one voice for peace, during an active war. Since October 7th, there has not been a gathering like this until now and it was an important reminder that we are not alone in the struggle for peace and justice.

As a bi-national organisation working within a system of discrimination and inequality we try our best to amplify the voices of our Palestinian activists when it is not possible to jointly co-resist or meet physically. Since our Palestinian activists in the West Bank are denied entry to Israel, we prepared a video sharing their message to the thousands in the audience in Tel Aviv. Watch here.
