Subject: "The Time Has Come" Peace Event is Tomorrow

Dear friends,

This month we had 25 Israeli and Palestinian activists, some veterans of the movement and others brand new, some youth and others with kids and grandkids of their own, gather in the desert for our first bi-national activist seminar since the start of the war. For our community, it can be taken for granted that we organise seminars like this one, because it already feels so natural to be together but in the current reality it is definitely not obvious. Throughout the weekend we opened up about our experiences since the start of the war and then came together to strategise ways we could work together to create more impact as a joint grassroots peace movement. Everyone left the seminar feeling more inspired, hopeful and energized.

Additionally, our new bi-national nonviolent communication (NVC) training program started this month. A group of Israelis and Palestinians will meet once a month in Beit Jala to learn and practice NVC, as a tool to use in their activism and personal lives. We are hopeful that this will be the start of many NVC programs between Israelis and Palestinians in the land as a way to build personal and collective transformation.

Watch our activists, Eli Avidor, Ahmed AlHelou and others share their personal stories and why they are so committed to the work of Combatants for Peace in this CBS interview that aired this week.

We’re excited to be co-organising the “Time Has Come” peace event on 1st July, together with many other human rights organisations and activists. You can join virtually via our facebook page or Youtube channel or join an international solidarity event. It will be a unique opportunity to hear from a variety of human rights supporters in Israel who are demanding an end to the war, a hostage exchange deal and ultimately a political agreement that brings freedom, safety and peace for all people between the river and the sea. As our Palestinian partners from the West Bank do not have permits to enter Israel, we will represent them the best we can by presenting videos they have prepared, in order to raise their voices amongst the audience.

We've also started a new Instagram account in English for our international supporters.
