The violence unfolding across the West Bank is not a series of isolated incidents — it is systemic, ongoing, and deliberate. The recent Guardian article, Britain must hold Israel to account for settler violence in the West Bank, highlights what Palestinian communities have been enduring for years: organized settler attacks carried out with impunity, while the state looks the other way. Homes are being torched, livestock stolen, children assaulted. Entire villages are being emptied — not by choice, but because life has been made unlivable.

This is what happens when we do nothing. By staying silent, the world has allowed violence, occupation, and dispossession to harden into the status quo. We are watching a future be shaped that corrupts and kills our children, and we refuse to accept it.

At Combatants for Peace, we are Palestinians and Israelis working together to reject all forms of violence and to actively resist this system of control. Every week, our activists provide protective presence in Area C. We walk alongside shepherds so they can reach pasture, food, and water without being attacked. We escort children to school and stand with families facing harassment, home demolitions, and land theft. Our presence disrupts the settlers’ sense of impunity — but it’s not enough. As more communities come under attack, our presence must grow.

Palestinian families are leaving their land not because they want to, but because no one is protecting them. Until the state takes responsibility, we must be the shield. We must be the deterrent. And we can only do this together.
