Dear colleagues,
An urgent online briefing on the current situation in the northern Jordan Valley, with a focus on recent settler violence and forced displacement affecting the area is taking place tomorrow, Monday, 14 July at 14:00 and will be led by Elie Avidor, an experienced field guide and long-time activist. Many of you have met Elie on past tours and field visits.
In recent weeks, we have witnessed a significant escalation in settler harassment, land confiscation, fencing, and the restriction of grazing and water access — all of which have created unbearable conditions for Palestinian shepherding communities. One community we are in close contact with has begun to relocate due to constant threats and fear for their safety.
The online session will provide: A situational overview of recent developments in the northern Jordan Valley First-hand insights into the impact of settler activity on vulnerable communities in Chamra Examples of restricted movement, shrinking grazing lands, and the role of the Israeli military in land takeover Opportunities for questions and further engagement
