Exploring Time, Space, and Knowledge

News and announcements

In memory and recognition of Robert Hartzema

We were recently informed that Robert Hartzema, a key person in bringing the Time, Space, Knowledge vision to the Netherlands, has passed away at the age of 77. Robert was a central figure in establishing our partner organization, Nyingma Centrum Nederland, for close to two decades. He not only taught TSK for years, but also translated the book into Dutch and published it in his own publishing company, which also published translations of Tarthang Tulku's other early works. We gratefully acknowledge Robert's contributions to the TSK community. May he rest in peace.

Weekly Full Presence Mindfulness Gatherings - Online
Drop-ins: starting THIS Tuesday, 9/12

Led by Adrian Roman (he/él)

In this space, we will explore different paths to being with experience fully. Can we return to the richness of life through listening, seeing, having conversation and even thinking? These are the questions we will be engaging in this group dialogue centered space.

This weekly drop-in occurs most Tuesdays at 4:30pm ET (1:30pm PT) for the fall season, September 12th through December 12th. This will be a 1 hour session. You may register at any time during the semester to receive the Zoom link.

Time Space Knowledge Club - Online
Starting THIS Thursday, 9/14

Facilitated by Adrian Roman (he/él)

Time Space Knowledge is a western modality that teases our experience-as-usual to open to rich possibilities. In this dialogue-based gathering, we will read some texts, practice with exercises from the books and discuss experiences. This group will be lightly held by a facilitator with the aim of learning from all voices in the room. This gathering is for individuals closely familiar with TSK and those who have developed a recent interest.

Every other Thursday at 4:30 ET. Sept 14th through December 7th. This will be a 1.5 hour session.

Mindfulness: What's Next? October 7-8, 2023

Two-day gathering of scholars and meditation and mindfulness teachers to evaluate the status of mindfulness practice and teaching today.

The founder of CCI, Jack Petranker, will be participating in this hybrid event hosted by Mangalam Research Center. The format will be a mix of sessions for invited participants and events open to the general public.

The past two decades have witnessed a tremendous burst of interest in "mindfulness," but this is not without controversy. This conference gathers Buddhist studies scholars and meditation/mindfulness teachers to discuss concerns such as the disconnection of mindfulness practice from ethics and wisdom and conflicting data on whether (and in what circumstances) mindfulness practice is beneficial to those who practice it.

More details and registration is available here (online) and here (in-person).
