Blood & Plasma Drive Update
Carter Blood Care has changed their process for collecting CCP. What they are now doing is drawing whole blood and testing for the antibody. If the concentration of antibodies is high enough, they separate the plasma out and use each of the components separately. There are 22 appointments on March 6, between 11:30 and 3:35. I would like to prioritize those who have had and recovered from COVID, but all are welcome to donate.
Leadership Corner | Maj. Boulden
Ski slopes are marked by difficulty. The green circle indicates the easiest slope—the one that will get you to the base of the hill the fastest, with the least amount of risk or drama. Why would anyone choose to ski down on the difficult black diamond run instead? Most passionate skiers would ask the question differently: why wouldn’t you? The point of skiing isn’t to get to the bottom. The point is the experience. Why this insight is so hard for us to embrace when it comes to learning, personal engagement, or the work we do each day? There are speed bumps along the way, opportunities unevenly distributed, and unforeseen problems—none of which get better when we decide to seek the easy way to the end.
Battalion Update | Capt. Vanderford
Training continues this week with some of the men in 2nd Phase doing CPR training along with other classes. They also enjoyed a Mass Casualty Incident scenario last Thursday night, and Saturday morning everyone participated in a rigorous special operations physical fitness test called the Upper Body Round Robin. Leadership & Communications class along with Major Boulden and Lt. O’Neal are in Washington D.C. this week and will be seeing many of the monuments there as well as a museum or two. Please pray for them for safety and an inspiring trip.
