Today I have for you some market insights, a new opportunity, and an update on my brother's wedding!...



Wonder why we are having supply issues and housing prices continue to rise?


Did you know that Canada has the lowest housing units per 1,000 people of all the G7 countries? And that MLS listings are less than half what they were in 2015? And that housing starts have been below the long term average since 2009? There is clearly no oversupply issue.


The fact is new housing supply is not keeping pace with rising demand. We need to build more homes, and reduce barriers for that to happen. Demand-side ideas, like curbing foreign investors temporarily, or taxing house-flippers, are not actually going to do much.


Thanks to REIN (Real Estate Investment Network) for providing insightful data at our monthly meetings that helps us real estate investors stay abreast of economic drivers and influencers.

As for the wedding?!


The ceremony and reception are still on, as planned. Alberta has just increased restrictions, so everyone attending needs to show proof of vaccination and wear masks, but thankfully, Stephan and Alexis did not have to cancel their wedding 8 days before! Cute pictures of our kids as flower girl & ring bearer to come :)
