BREAKING NEWS: Caruso Says Soil Excavation Completed

Soil excavation work on Swarthmore Avenue is 100 percent complete, said developer Rick Caruso on Thursday, July 2.

“This means no more large trucks, major noise or street closures (planned) until our project construction activities commence in 2016,” Caruso said.

The less invasive aspect of the remediation will continue through the end of the year and into 2016, according to the developer.

Caruso also confirmed that the firm remains on schedule for a late 2017 opening for its proposed plan, which includes a five-screen movie theater inspired by the design of the original Bay Theatre, a community room, a specialty grocer and a limited number of residential units.
