Chinese government moves to ban single-use plastic!

 

BIG news! A new directive by the Chinese government will institute a ban on the production and sale of disposable foamed plastic tableware, plastic straws, and plastic cotton buds by the end of the year. 


#breakfreefromplastic changemaker Shania Cheng of Plastic Free China says, “Plastic Free China and China Zero Waste Alliance have been submitting suggestions to relevant departments in the past few years to limit the use of free plastic bags, reduce express packaging, and fully implement the policy of not voluntarily providing disposable plastics in hotels. We are very happy to see that this year the country has issued a series of further plastic restriction policies in these areas.”
