Subject: September at Boomerang Pilates!

WORKSHOPS
ONE-ON-ONE
Can you believe that September is here already??

September feels like a time for fresh starts, new commitments and an exciting entry into a new year. It’s just as refreshing as January (if not more so!).

One difference, left over from the start of a new school year, is that fall pulls me to learning. I want to learn new things, refine and extend my knowledge of things I’m already into.

Do you feel the same way?

Maybe you’re ready to try a private session with one of our lovely teachers to refine your already awesome practice!

Curious about private sessions?
Here are some FAQ’s!

I’m not really great at Pilates (or Restorative Exercise or functional movement…) or really broken. Isn’t a private for someone who’s really high performing or in rehab?

Not at all! Sometimes people who do privates want to work on really advanced exercises, but often they are regular clients who want to work on their own specific needs, Your teacher will be able to focus on exactly what you need to improve your practice and feel great in your body!

Alternately, I have an injury or deal with chronic pain. Will a private session be too hard for me?

Private sessions are a great way to address specific concerns. We all work closely with physios and doctors to make sure we provide the best support we can. You get the luxury of someone who will spend an hour with you addressing your whole body needs and helping you make a continuing home plan that you understand and feel good about!

What about the equipment? Would I get to use it?

As you know, at Boomerang we don’t have the space for equipment classes, so a private session gets you onto the Reformer, Cadillac and stability chair. They are super fun and also provide additional context for your mat class exercises! The apparatus can either add challenge or support, depending on how they are used, so you can enjoy them regardless of the focus of your session.

Don’t you have to go every week?
I don’t have the time or the money for that!

Although some people like to come every week (or even twice a week!), we have lots of clients who come every other week or even once a month for a check in. They use the private time to clarify any questions that come up in class, work on specific skills or get some targeted work on something that bothers them. Other clients come only once or twice to really get a sense of the modifications or special approaches they want to understand to support their class work. That’s the lovely thing about a private.... How often you come, when you come, who you see and what you focus on are all about you!

Here’s what your teachers have to say about teaching privates!

AnnaMarie
"Pilates is a mind body experience and learning journey. There can be a lot to figure out in a group situation, particularly if you have chronic issues or are new to Pilates. Working one-on-one allows me to cater sessions to your specific needs and my big reward is seeing how it benefits you, leaving you feeling stronger and more capable in your body. Every person’s needs and speeds are different and the communication process helps me to determine what’s best for you. It’s win win!"

Fahmida
"I love the attention to detail, the ability to address exactly what a client needs and using the equipment to challenge or support clients as they need!"

Mary Beth
"I love the results working privately offers. The focus is all about you. I can better tailor the exercises to meet your goals, cues to activate your mind and body, and together see the results of the work on your posture, confidence and ability. Working privately allows more time for understanding and filling in missing links you may not have even known were missing! What you learn and practice in these sessions can open the path to your goals and a better feeling, more able body."

Tania
"What I love about working with clients one on one is actually 2 fold:
One, is the rapport and trust that we build which allows for an ease of communication. I can learn about my clients goals and we can work together to achieve those, whether those goals are to build endurance, strength or gain mobility we can work together and make it happen!
The other thing I enjoy is watching the progress my clients achieve through their hard work and dedication! We take the time to celebrate their efforts! As for advice, I’m always a proponent of moving outside of our private sessions. If your passionate about a sport, or love hiking, cycling or dancing - I say go for it!! Use it - not lose it!"

Alison
"I love my private clients! I do a wide variety of private work, but my absolute favourite sessions are the ones when I get to see someone make a change. I have many clients who are working to introduce new movements or restore movements they've lost. They’re finding ways to improve their health by diving deep, creating new patterns and improving their lives outside the studio. One of my best days recently came when a client recovering from a serious accident was able to lift his big toe. That’s as much fun for me as seeing someone master a tricky new exercise on the equipment!"

We are excited to welcome some new faces to Team B!
