Photonics Day - (not only) for future photonics professionals

University of Warsaw Student Association of Optics and Photonics, Fluence.technology and PPTF, in cooperation with Lukasiewicz - Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics, invite high school students, undergraduates and all lovers of light technology to celebrate International Photonics Day together - on Saturday, October 21, at University of Warsaw's Faculty of Physics.

Polish photonics at Photonics Days BB

Members of the PPTF and the Microelectronics, Electronics and Photonics Cluster traditionally took part in an event organised by the photonics cluster OpTecBB. The opening was attended by the Polish ambassador to Germany - discussions included the presentation of Polish technologies in the new embassy building in Berlin.

EIB invests in SDS Optic

New concept of network interface for quantum computers

A team of researchers from the University of Warsaw, has constructed a device capable of converting quantum information between single microwave and optical photons. The new microwave detection technique, could find applications in quantum technologies, as part of the infrastructure of the quantum internet, and in microwave radio astronomy.

Electrons or photons?

Technological advances have greatly facilitated the detection of molecules by electrochemical methods, but there are still difficulties associated with the detection of single molecules and ultrafast processes at the molecular level. These difficulties are due to the existence of a critical limitation that determines the minimum number of electrons that can be recorded during a measurement. Recently, a team of scientists from the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS provided valuable insights into electrochemistry conducted below the detection limit.

PhotonHub Europe (PHE) is a Europe-wide support network for entrepreneurs who want to incorporate innovative photonic solutions into their products or processes. Supported by national PhotonHubs, the 36 top European technology centres offer information and training, business support, support in raising funding and a wide network of contacts - and above all the opportunity to experiment, test and develop technologies (including scaling up production). PhotonHub also comprehensively supports startups. However, the main part of its offer is high-end technology services, available at a very significant discount thanks to EU funding.

These services are available to all entities in the EU, with a special focus on SMEs. The PPTF is the Polish partner of PHE as the national photonics hub.

TechTour Photonics on 8 November

On 8 November, the PIC Summit Europe in Eindhoven will host this year's edition of a gathering of European startups developing technology solutions in the following photonics application areas:
- Manufacturing and machine vision
- Communications, optical components and infrastructure
- Lighting and displays
- Photonic technologies
PhotonHub is a co-organiser of the TechTour supporting European technology startups.
