Not only in ultracold temperatures

Researchers from the University of Warsaw, in collaboration with a group from the Weizmann Institute of Science, have discovered that collisions between rubidium atoms and strontium cations can be controlled by a magnetic field not only at ultra-low temperatures, but also at higher temperatures than previously thought. This surprising ordering in the collision mechanism opens up new possibilities in the precise control of quantum processes over a wider temperature range, which may have important applications in future quantum technologies. Flickering reveals secrets of the vision process

Researchers at the International Centre for Translational Eye Research (ICTER) have developed a novel technique, flicker optoretinography, which enables non-invasive and precise monitoring of photoreceptor processes. The method allows microscopic changes in the length of photoreceptors to be observed and, for the first time, linked to the activity of specific proteins involved in the visual process. This is crucial for a better understanding of the mechanisms of vision and early diagnosis of eye diseases.
