Every third Polish Product of the Future enabled by photonics

As many as seven entities creating or applying advanced photonic solutions were among the award winners at the 24th gala event of the Polish Product of the Future competition, organised by PARP and NCBiR: Milton Essex, WAT, Noctiluca, SDS Optic, PayEye, MedApp and Poznan University of Technology. Congratulations!

Lublin-based SDS Optic, winner of the Polish Product of the Future competition, has received approval to begin clinical trials of its inPROBE fibre-optic probe for breast cancer diagnosis.

Polish-Israeli company Quantum Flytrap has released a programme that simulates the workings of quantum mechanics. You can run it for free in your browser and perform the most famous quantum experiments on an ordinary computer.

Annual Meeting of Photonics Partnership

The Photonics Partnership, a public-private partnership between the European Commission and European industry representation, met in Brussels. Work on the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) was inaugurated. Representatives of Polish companies, universities and research institutes participate in the work within thematic working groups.

General assembly of PPTF members

Members of the Polish technological Platform on Photonics (PPTF) met near Rzeszów at the end of June to network in person after pandemic restrictions and discuss innovation funding, plans for future activities and joint projects. Participants held a General Assembly of PPTF and visited the fibre optics factory of FIBRAIN, a PPTF member.

Optica Siegman International School on Lasers 2022 in Poland 

University of Warsaw hosted the Optica Siegman International School on Lasers - the most important and the largest international summer school on laser physics. The event, organised in cooperation with Optica and supported by Fluence, VIGO Photonics, Eagle Lasers and the Candela Foundation, took place in Chęciny on 25.06-02.07.2022.

New generation of OLEDs

A team of scientists from two institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS), the Institute of Physical Chemistry PAS and the Institute of Organic Chemistry PAS, in collaboration with researchers from the Silesian University of Technology, have proposed new chemical compounds that can serve as light emitters in OLEDs.

PhotonHub Europe (PHE) is a pan-European support network for entrepreneurs and public institutions interested in developing and upgrading their businesses with photonics technologies. It offers free knowledge and training, the possibility to experiment, test and develop technologies, business support, funding support and a wide network of contacts - services that are available to all entities in the EU, with a special focus on SMEs. The PPTF is PHE's Polish partner as a national photonics hub.

A compact introduction to photonics - for everyone

Photon Hub offers a wide range of 2-hour online introductory seminars to photonics applications. The seminars are organised by leading European centres (including those from Poland), offering not only knowledge but also the opportunity to discuss with experts from all over Europe. The seminars in English are available free of charge to all, participation requires registration. The next seminar: Introductory Course in Photonics Innovation organised by the Irish Tyndall National Institute will be held on 17 July.
