Subject: Blackened Cajun Fish...(funny cooking story)...

I look back on this and I still get a good laugh out of it...

When my wife and I were first dating (this would be more than 23 years ago now), we both worked on cruise ships.

There came a time when I was home off the ship while she was still out working on the ship, so we communicated via phone calls.

One day, as I'm making myself some dinner, I get a call from her...she's calling from somewhere in South America (if I remember correctly).

She asks me what I'm doing....

I say "Just making some dinner. I can definitely talk."

She says "Oh, really. What are you making?"

"I'm just making some blackened Cajun fish."

She pauses for a moment then says "Wow, that's awesome. It sounds delicious! I don't want to disturb you while you're cooking, though, if you need to concentrate on what you're doing."

And then there's me...completely oblivious...

"Oh, no problem. I just opened up the frozen fish package and threw it in the oven a minute ago. Should be ready in about 20 minutes."

Immediately I hear laughter on the other end of the line.

As she told me later, she was thinking to herself at the time, "That's amazing, I didn't know this guy can cook, too!"

Turns out nope.

So now every time she comes home from work and asks me what I'm making her for dinner, I say "blackened Cajun fish"...

Now, I told you that story to tell you about this...

As you've probably gathered, I'm no master chef.

And when I can just dump a bunch of stuff into a slow cooker, turn it on, then a few hours later have a delicious, healthy meal, then I'm sold.

It's just so convenient and easy to do....kinda like blackened Cajun fish...

My main problem is I tend to gravitate to what I know how to do... I usually just throw some frozen chicken breasts, potatoes and frozen veggies into the pot and hope for the best.

It usually turns out pretty decently...just kinda bland.

If you have the same problem, check this out...a book of free slow cooker recipes that are tasty AND support your fat loss efforts.

They're easy to follow and healthy.

Cooking has never really been my thing...eating yes, cooking no.

However, something like the slow cooker really simplifies things a LOT for me.
