Shae Bishop, whose 2011 piece â˘â˘â˘â˘â˘ (right) from the Belger Collection and new ceramic hats (left) are featured in Second Skin: Exploring Adornment as an Extension of Self, earned his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2012 and was a Resident Artist at Belger Arts from 2012 to 2014. His work has been exhibited worldwide, and heâs participated in residencies at Kohler Arts, the Archie Bray Foundation, San Diego State University, University of Wisconsin, and others. In December 2025, he was recognized by My Modern Met as one of the Ceramic Artists Who Are Shaping the Future of Clay, and his work is featured in Ceramics Monthly's April 2026 issue. Bishopâs art explores the relationship between ceramic materials and the adaptability required for wearable garments. He explains that his pieces draw âconnections between diverse craft traditions, cultures, and my personal history. I create wearable portraits, building stories around the body.â
