Proximity and Practice: Belger Arts’ Thirteenth Annual Resident Exhibition

Artist Remarks at 6:30PM

Proximity and Practice features work by Ceramic Resident Artists Sara Alfieri, Erin Drake, Hunter Guidoboni, Zoey McLeod, Hannah Schelb, and Warren Van Ryzin, and, for the first time, work by Glass Resident Artists Michael Carson and Tyler Suter.

Over the past year, these eight artists have pushed their studio practices, exploring how proximity—or lack thereof—shapes their connections to family, community, online spaces, and the physical world.

Beat the Heat

Beat the Heat includes work by Ekin Atyac and Josh Davids, Robert Bingaman, Element Ten, Erica Iman, Georgia Janowiecki, and Ethan Stern, along with works from the Belger Collection by Chandra DeBuse, Susan Glaser, and Alex Siburney, among others.

Through diverse techniques and materials, the artists capture the distinctive spirit of summer, evoking both the warmth of the season and relief from its oppressive heat. Each artist addresses a key aspect of the summer experience—whether it’s vibrant nightlife, exploring the outdoors and urban environments, or finding moments of calm amid the season’s frenzy. Together, they consider the central question: “What Beats the Heat?”
