Through the act of sacrifice the spirit of the animal is uplifted and liberated. When the spirit is offered up through the act of ritual it becomes the basis for manifestation whether we are speaking in terms of a specific desire, or the materialization of a spirit. Through the ritual act the cycle of reincarnation ends and the spirit of the animal merges once more with the unlimited possibility of the void. It is no longer bound to the limitations of the created.

There is a very intimate link between the offering and the one performing the sacrifice which becomes the impetus for a most powerful spiritual experience. This link is the fine line between that which currently is and the manifestation of our desire. Through the ritual act of the sacrifice the psychic energy released by the black adept through the act merges with the spirit of the animal bringing one to a place between worlds, tearing the veil of limitations imposed upon us within this corporeal plane of existence. The portal between life and death opens up bringing one to a place where the potential of unlimited possibility can be tapped into. It is through this portal that the most ancient of dark Gods can be called forth and the most sorcerous desires can be made manifest according to the will of the sorcerer. The magickian as the one opening the gate becomes the gatekeeper who holds the power to dictate what exactly comes through the veil. The practical value of this cannot be overlooked.

We essentially feed the animal to the spirit to increase its health and strength to manifest. In this sense, it is not unlike the way humans feed animals to themselves for health and strength!

I feel no sense of bad conscience, because I have only extended my own dietary norms into the spirit world. For example, why can I consume a chicken, but the spirit cannot? It would be hypocritical to deny a spirit what I myself would eat.

Many of the elders within the lodges I was brought up through tried to convince me that a few drops of my own blood coupled with my intent would produce the same result. My personal experience proved otherwise though, and so at this point I simply do not agree. Though the sacrifice of one’s own blood is indeed useful and quite potent it is not the same as offering up the totality of spirit. While it remains true that blood in and of itself is a spiritual gateway the aethyric material basis of a spirit offers the building blocks of manifestation whether we are speaking of the manifestation of desire or the materialization of a spiritual force through conjuration.

Let us use the operations of evocation as an example. When a sorcerer drips their blood upon the sigil of an angel or demon they provide a means for the energy that vibrationally aligns with that sigil to come forth. If the adept has the necessary psychic faculties to behold the spirit, then he or she may do so. If not, then the experience of the operation is akin to trying to speak to someone through a closed door. However, when the spirit of an animal is unbound through sacrifice the spirit being summoned will walk through the space between life and death using the composite energies of the sorcerer through the act of the sacrifice and the spiritual material of the animal to manifest in a much more intense way. Even the most psychically impotent practitioner will become immediately aware of the foreign presence even if it cannot be yet directly perceived and they will without a doubt be in a position to directly communicate with the spirit being conjured due to the gift being given, which is to be able to stand upon this plane and experience it in a more concrete way.

In the same way when one applies animal sacrifice in the context of sorcery they are using the same principle to mold and shape the spiritual material being unbound from the limits of this physical realm. The main difference is the intent. Instead of giving life to materialize a spiritual entity or deity we are instead molding the spiritual material in the shape of desire on the other side of the veil so that it can soon come into being here within the world. Animal sacrifice works. It has been used and harnessed for thousands of years for good reason and we must be honest with ourselves. Why are we so against it? In most cases it is the very social programming we claim to oppose.

Animal sacrifice is not about killing for the sake of being evil. It is about harnessing spiritual technology to mold this plane according to will through the medium of very potent spiritual energy. It is a very powerful means of tweaking reality and harnessing great power. Must you perform it to be a powerful sorcerer? I would say no. However, I will say that most of the time in order to grow spiritually we have to push beyond our comfort zone and expand through experience.

I learned all of this through my work being guided by Ahriman whom is the first Devil known to mankind. Though according to the masses this Ahrimanian impulse is considered absolute evil, he taught me how to use these principles in powerful rites of personal alchemical transmutation as I recorded my experiences upon the Path of Smoke as presented within the grimoire Black Magick of Ahriman. One of the most important things I have ever learned regarding this is that rites of sacrifice are powerful and sacred. They are reserved for only the highest cause of counter creation and personal transformation.

Though rites such as these are not absolutely necessary upon the Path of Smoke they are revealed simply because knowledge is power.
