I have never felt entirely sure about the chakras as they're traditionally presented in Hindu dogma, at least not enough to make any official statements, until now.
Even if the chakras were nothing like what New Agers and tantric holy books claim, so many people believe in them, so many people are attached to the idea of them, they might as well be as real as an arm or a leg. The folks at your neighborhood yoga class venerate them as "sacred organs" of your etheric anatomy, and have visceral experiences that even seem to validate it.
This is how powerful human belief can be. But there is so much more to this story!

The idea of the chakras is not so bad: spinning, wheel-like, energy vortices located symbiotically around organs and other vital areas of the individual, the movement of thought, emotion, energy, fluids, and time all influencing how these whirlpools of light might form and flow.
If the chakra-cults stopped there, I’d still be on board.
They didn’t stop there.
Every energy center then took on not only the attributes of different deities, but every chakra was bound by the inscribed names of these gods, thus, chaining the chakras and individual energy body to the Devas’ will.
Essentially, the chakras were turned into traps, trapping the organs of the body, the processes of the mind, the passions of the heart, and the destiny of the soul, to do the will of the gods rather than our own will.
As has always been, and always will be, there are a portion of us that will not tolerate slavery of any sort, and are always ready to strike and smash the shackles wherever we find them!

Beware Replacing Your Traps With Other Traps |

Permanently removing someone’s chakras to liberate them would be as useless as cutting off a person’s arm or leg to send them into battle. This is especially true for people who have activated, opened, cleared their chakras, as doing so ties the chakra system into the spiritual and energetic welfare, in addition to the physical tethering of chakras to bodily organs.
1. Raise To A Higher Power
It would have been useless to even suggest a full and permanent removal of the chakras until a sufficient replacement system was found.
Not only would such a system for replacing the chakras need to be as energetically powerful as the chakras, it would also need to go beyond the chakras in not only stabilizing the body, but also empowering and strengthening it beyond the capabilities of the organism alone.
2. Flatten Hierarchy & Expunge Dogma
The replacement would need to be devoid of all hierarchical and dogmatic systems, the symbolism and inherent nature of the whole and the parts anchored in what can be immediately felt and understood by anyone, and accessible to everyone.
3. Guarantee Individual Freedom
Lastly, it would need to be under the control of the individual alone, allowing them to invest in them fully if they choose, to alter in accordance with what he or she experiences and understands about them, or to discard them wholesale, if they choose.
In short, traps could not be replaced by other traps.
Creating such a system was beyond the capabilities of my mind and understanding, and very few alternatives were shaken loose in the countless systems I’ve ransacked.
