Best Colorado Deal of the Week: Karma Interiors

How many times have you driven past the huge “STOREWIDE SALE 30%-60% OFF” at Karma Interiors, 160 Broadway, 303-282-5161, www.karmaInterior.com? Stop in next time. (There’s always a parking space out front.) Introduce yourself to Misael Bautista, and be sure to say “Hi” to his wife and young son. Most important, take a good long look at his magnificent inventory of vegetable-dyed, handmade rugs from Yayla, which supports educational opportunity for weaving families and others in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Is it sweater weather yet?

Fall doesn’t arrive until Sept. 21, but the fall lines are already on clearance at Coquette, 3003 E. Third Ave., 303-355-7770, where the deals included dresses from Elana Kattan, Komorav, Lily and Three Dot, originally priced at $129 to $270, now $49 to $190.

And speaking of summer’s end…

Only one opportunity remains to check out Sunday on the Streets, the summer market at the Streets of Southglenn. This season’s final Sunday artisans’ market, featuring Sassy Stuff among other vendors, runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 in Commons Park at South University Boulevard and East Arapahoe Road in Centennial. For more information, go to ShopSouthglenn.com.

Celebrate with Christiania Pavlakis

Christiania Pavlakis Studio Gallery, 3000 E. Third Ave., 303-321-1463, is 1 year old, and, to celebrate, all the colorful and whimsical framed art by this local artist is marked down by 25 percent through Sept. 30.

Mark your calendars

Start up your skillets and notify your tasting crew. That great green chile dish that makes your guests want to stand up and cheer could win you one of four $100 prizes in the second annual Denver Chili Fest recipe contest. The Denver Chili Fest, a benefit for the Food Bank of the Rockies, will run 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the metro area’s newest produce market, Lulu’s Farm, 14831 Brighton Road, LulusFarm.com. For details on the contest and more information about the Denver Chili Fest, go to DenverChiliFest.com.
