Holiday season is in full swing, with so many great shopping
festivities that there are nearly too many to report. So let’s get
started. And if you’ve got information about some upcoming event you’d like to share, I’d sure appreciate it if you could tell me about it.

At the Holiday Whale of a Book Sale, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Nov 19 and Saturday, Nov. 20, Belmar Library, 555 S. Allison Parkway, Lakewood, 303-235-5275, you’ll find cookbooks, art, history, fiction and classics, children’s, crafts and hobbies, inspirational, holiday books, gardening, travel, audiobooks, videos, CDs, DVDs – and sales help fund JeffCo’s literacy programs.

The Asbury Elementary School Holiday Arts and Craft Fair, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20, 1320 E. Asbury Ave., 303-722-4695, is sponsored by the Asbury PTA, which benefits from this cozy fundraising event featuring handmade gifts, artwork, cocoa and other goodies. For more information, send an e-mail to AsburyPTA@Gmail.com.

The varied holiday specials at Salone Tobie Urban Spa, 200 Quebec St. 500-115, 303-366-4247, include deals and discounts on Airbrush Spray Tanning, Express Manicure and Pedicure, and Microdermabrasion.

Castle Clay Potters’ Show features ceramics, wood, glass, jewelry and more, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, Jefferson Unitarian Church, 14350 W. 32nd Ave., Golden.

Find great gifts from nine of Denver’s finest retailers at the
fanciest warehouse sale in town: Shop 2the9s, 11 a.m to 5 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 20 and Sunday, Nov. 21, at 389 S. Lipan St.,
720-404-5074, 720-244-0071. Shoppers will discover deep discounts on art from Abend Gallery, bedding and other home accessories from the Brass Bed, furnishings and accessories from Djuna, period pieces from Eron Johnson Antiques, fashions and accessories from Garbarini, floral gifts from Wild Flowers, handmade Oriental rugs from Shaver-Ramsey, antique lighting from Trog De Lights and classic wines from The Vineyard. For more information, go to www.shop2the9s.com.

The 2010 Annual Juried Holiday Show and Sale, in conjunction with the Artisan Showcase, opens Friday, Nov. 19 and runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays through Dec. 23 at the Lakewood Cultural Center, 470 South Allison Parkway, Lakewood, 303-987-7876, with holiday items, paintings, photography, pottery, jewelry, and much more in all price ranges.

And finally, with Hanukkah starting a mere six days after
Thanksgiving, you might want to do double holiday shopping asap at the East Side Kosher Deli, 499 South Elm St., 303-322-9862. We know it’s going to be hard to resist Wednesday’s opening day festivities at the much-awaited Glendale King Soopers. But if you’re there to check out
Kings’ “expanded kosher section,” we urge you to compare East Side’s prices. We’ve compared prices between ESKD and the Kings on Monaco and Leetsdale, and the ESKD kosher market basket turned out to be less expensive. There’s no telling what kind of deals Kings will have on opening day, but we’re willing to bet that ESKD will stay competitive in the long haul – and maybe in the short haul, too
