Best Colorado Deal of the Week

The Misha May Foundation, a local non-profit that helps rescued dogs overcome trauma-induced behavior problems, is offering Best Colorado Deals subscribers a $10 discount on tickets to its 10th Anniversary Moment for Mutts party Nov. 14th at the Mercury Café. The $35 tickets will be $25 through Nov. 5 if you mention you saw it here. For details on the celebration, go to MishaMayFoundation.org. To purchase tickets, hit the donation button at www.mishamayfoundation.org or call 303-239-0382 and offer your credit card number.

If you can’t make the party, catch the Holiday Gifts for Pets and Their People event at Tagawa Gardens, 7711 S Parker Road, Centennial, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, and Sunday, Nov. 7. Animal communicators will be offering sessions both days at $1 per minute, and artists and artisans will be offering photography, knitted and crocheted items, holiday decorations, scrapbooks, jewelry, paintings, woodwork and more to benefit the organization.

Great merchandise, terrific prices. Nuff said

Wholesale clothing sales reps don’t like to make much of a fuss when they sell their samples because they don’t like to undercut their clients, the retailers. So the semiannual
Madison Exchange Sample Sale, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Holiday Inn Select, 455 S. Colorado Blvd., is a pretty low-key affair. But I’ll tell you this: You’ll find great prices on some of the best lines in sportswear, sporting goods, apparel and equipment for men, women and children. Go! You’ll be glad.

Where fashion sits…

Such a deal at Puttin’ on the Ritz, 1446 S. Colorado Blvd., 303-759-4398. Owner Pat Jackson has gathered all her summer clearance dresses, jackets, skirts and pants into the sale room just so she can blow them out of there. The more expensive of two pieces is half-price, and the second one is free. So, for example, a Jones New York skirt originally consigned for $40, would be $20, and a top priced at less than $40 would be free. Don’t go with any preconceived notions – consignment shopping is a treasure hunt where your treasure might be from Anne Klein, Alan Fisher, Ann Taylor, St. John Knits, Nanette LaPore, Dana Buchman, Kenar or even St. John’s Bay.

Get your handmade gifts here!

It begins to look a lot like Christmas when the pottery sales begin. As the Colorado Potters Guild says on its Web site, “Our fall show and sale is the perfect place to find pottery handmade right here in Colorado, just in time for all your holiday gift needs.” The Colorado Pottery Guild’s opening reception for the Fall Show and Sale is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, and the sale continues 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5 and Saturday, Nov. 6 at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 3501 S. Colorado Blvd. For more information, go to www.coloradopotters.org.

And here!

A $3 ticket for the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Holiday Gift Fair (known to many as the Doll Tea) gets you into a wonderland of dolls, miniatures and model trains, and children 10 and younger are free. You can shop for toys, gifts, homemade gourmet food, quilts, hand-dressed dolls and ornaments. Proceeds clothe needy schoolchildren in head-to-toe new outfits. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5 and Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Colorado Community Church,  3651 S. Colorado Blvd., one block south of Hampden.

Let’s go Hanukkah shopping!

It’s time to light the first Hanukkah candle on the evening of Dec. 1, so the semi-annual Is Art sale of handcrafted Israeli art jewelry and accessory is well-timed. It’s 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 in the warehouse district at 7808 Cherry Creek Drive South, 303-873-6553. Importer Beth Campagna is offering the public another handpicked selection of discontinued,
limited edition art jewelry by Ayala Bar and other handcrafted art and accessories created by Israeli artists and artisans at prices 25 percent to 75 percent less than retail, and 5 percent of sales will be donated to the Girls Athletic Leadership School, a Denver charter school focused on health and wellness as keys to academic achievement. For more information, go to www.isartonline.com.

Celebrate! Celebrate!

Littleton Antiques & Such, 2677 W. Alamo Ave., 303-961-1049, celebrates its second anniversary with a party 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5 and Saturday Nov. 6, and 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7. The festivities in the retail space, which includes 10 different vendors, will include drawings for gift certificates, prizes and other special treats, offers and treats.
