6 Week Life Drawing for Sculptors with Simon Harris

Sat 9 May — Sat 27 June| 2:30 - 5:30pm

Back by popular demand this 6-week life drawing course focuses on learning to see and draw the human figure as a three-dimensional form. Work from a live model each week, developing gesture, structure, light and anatomy, and complete a final study that strengthens sculptural practice.

Simon Harris has an extensive background in graphics and illustration, with a recent shift toward sculpture following his studies at TBSSS. Since 2003 he has taught illustration at Billy Blue College of Design. His figurative drawings have been finalists in major prizes, including the Dobell Drawing Prize. Simon brings a strong analytical eye and sculptural awareness to drawing from the live model.

Sculpture in a Day: Carving Soapstone with Karen Alexander

Sunday 17 May | 10am — 4pm

Create a small, finished soapstone sculpture in this one-day workshop. Soapstone is a soft, easily carved stone with beautiful natural patterns, available in a variety of colours. You’ll be guided in using rasps and files to gradually reveal the hidden organic shapes and forms within—resulting in your very own unique sculpture to take home.

A fun, creative and meditative one-day experience—perfect for those short on time, or a great taste tester for anyone curious about carving in stone.

Book with a friend and receive a special discount.

NEW 5 Week Modelling the Figure in Clay with Monika Scarrabelotti

Join artist and teacher Monika Scarrabelotti for our Sunday life study, Modelling the Figure in Clay. This five-week workshop invites you to explore the tactile, expressive qualities of clay while working from a live model.

Develop your understanding of anatomy, proportion, and the rhythms of the human form through both drawing and sculpture. The first session introduces life drawing and short clay studies, followed by four weeks working from a sustained pose, allowing time to deepen your sculpture.

Monika teaches with energetic demonstrations and a focus on gesture, tension, and form, creating a relaxed yet supportive studio environment.

Suitable for all skill levels (some art experience recommended), this workshop offers beginners a strong foundation in modelling and armatures, while experienced artists can refine or expand their practice.

Please note: this course focuses on modelling only and does not include mould making, casting, or firing.
