Subject: 🌴Coin Collecting Update - Classic (and Potentially Valuable) Coins That Are Easy To Miss...

Hey Friend

This really surprised me - especially at a coin show! 😲

I was in Hobart last weekend for the ANDA Coin & Banknote show - as a bonus I received a 2001 Federation coin in my change. Appropriately, it was the Fifty Cent with the Tasmanian Coat of Arms, and it was in great condition for a twenty-five year old coin! But that wasn't what surprised me...

We had the coin sitting on our table at the show, and it became a real talking point. But I was surprised at how many collectors asked "What's so special about it?" - and then they looked closer.

Once they noticed that it wasn't a normal Fifty Cent coin, I directed them to the video below. It's a classic video, but with this year being the 125th anniversary of Federation, it seems more appropriate than ever...

“The 2001 Centenary of Federation Twenty Cent and Fifty Cent sets

This video is one of my favourites, but it's also short and sweet!

There are a couple of interesting things worth noting about these coins:

  • Most of these coins can be worth up to twenty times face value for collectors (and quite a bit more in uncirculated condition)
  • Even in 2026, these coins are still some of the lowest mintages for Twenty and Fifty Cent coins (see your Pirate Guide for more details on how they compare to other coins).

Full Disclosure: There is a Federation coin I missed from this video - I'll email you soon with info on that coin and what makes it extra-special.

In the meantime, have a great weekend!

Cheers
Damian
