Dear Stargazers,

If you're still waiting to receive a Planetary Story from me, be assured you'll receive it during the coming week. Between a very busy client month and a bigger than anticipated response to this offer (thank you!), it's taken me a little longer than usual to get them all done.

In the last newsletter, I said I expect to hear major news related to cryptocurrency when Uranus enters Taurus this summer. Just a few days later, the Wall Street Journal reported that MoneyGram inked a deal to work with Ripple on a pilot program for its digital currencyThis is just the tip of the iceberg. There will be much more to come once Uranus moves into the sign of finance, and I'll be discussing this in more detail as we get closer to May.

In the meantime, the big news is the Super Blue Moon Lunar Eclipse on January 31, which is the first one to occur in North America in 150 years. So what exactly is it?
  • It's a Super Moon because it's Perigree (the term used to describe the moon's orbit when it's closest to the earth). As a result, the moon appears to be larger and brighter than usual; and
  • It's a blue moon because it's the second full moon in the same calendar month; and
  • It's a total lunar eclipse because the Moon will pass completely through the umbra (the earth's dark shadow).
You can click here to find out if it will be completely visible from your location.

P.S.: If you happen to miss it, there will be another one on... December 31, 2028.
PLANETARY FORECAST
January 21 - February 4

PLANETARY EVENTS

Jan. 26:  Mars enters Sagittarius
Jan. 31:  Super Blue Moon Lunar Eclipse in Leo
               Mercury enters Aquarius

BEST DAYS

While there are other days during this time frame that are fine, these are the best of the bunch. What do I mean by the best? The energy is flowing, the moon isn't void and there's a greater likelihood for happy and/or productive outcomes.

There are no outstanding days during this period; if I have to choose one, I would say JAN. 25 looks to be the best.

BEST AVOIDED

The energies on these days aren't favorable for new ventures or any activity where you want or need a definite result. If you must schedule something, you may have to think on your feet, or there may be a need for patience or flexibility.

MARS IN SAGITTARIUS
January 26 - March 16

As the planetary ruler of pioneers and trailblazers, Mars is very much at home in Sagittarius because it is the natural ruler of explorers, distant journeys and long voyages. In fact, whenever the planet of action visits the sign of wanderlust, he keeps his options open and his passport close at hand. >>Read More

MERCURY IN AQUARIUS
January 31 - February 17

After spending more than nine long weeks in Capricorn's practical, conventional and status-conscious tenth house, Mercury bid farewell to the Seagoat and bolted straight into Aquarius where he could color outside the lines, think outside the box and experience the joys of life as a non-conformist.

Aquarius is the sign of Mercury's exaltation, which means that whenever the planet of intellect is dressed in the water bearer's flowing robes, his virtues are magnified and he displays his abilities in a profound and distinctive manner.

Likewise, during this time you may feel inspired to push your intellectual boundaries and discover - or rediscover - our own unique brilliance. Since the water bearer is also the ruler of humanitarian and revolutionary causes, some of you may become involved in a humanitarian effort or a socio-political cause.

Above all, Mercury in Aquarius can help open your mind, liberate your thoughts and grant you a clear vision of a better tomorrow.

LUNAR ECLIPSE at 11°37' LEO
January 31, 2018 | 8:27 AM EST
Washington, DC

Since a lunar eclipse occurs at a full moon, its energy brings something to a conclusion, which means a matter could come to fruition or to an end. However, it differs from your typical full (or new) Moon because not only is its energy is intense, but it's also infused with an element of unpredictability. That's why astrologers refer to them as the wildcards; they have a well-earned reputation for being game changers.

The Moon represents the home, family, mother, women, nurturing, emotions and the masses, and as the natural ruler of the 5th house, Leo rules children. As it happens, the strongest aspect to the Moon (which rules the 5th house in this chart) is an exact conjunction between the moon and the dwarf planet Ceres, which happens to also be at 11°35' Leo.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the mythology of Ceres, she's the counterpart of the Greek goddess Demeter, the goddess of agriculture and the earth's fertility. She was also the mother of Persephone who was abducted by Hades and became his wife and Queen of the underworld.  In astrology, Ceres represents the love a mother bears for her child and motherly relationships with children who are ready, almost ready or should be ready to leave the nest.

Collectively speaking, given the exact conjunction of the Moon and Ceres, this eclipse suggests that women's issues will be in the spotlight. As I've said many times before, events connected to a full moon or lunar eclipse occur before the lunation.

One only needs to look at the headlines of any news outlet or social media feed to see it in action. From Friday's Pro-life march at the White House to Saturday's nationwide women's marches to the expected presence of the #metoo movement at tonight's SAG Awards, women's issues are continuing to make national (and international) news.

Women issues are further emphasized by the opposition between the Moon-Ceres and Venus, which is the planetary ruler of women, personal values and self-esteem. In this chart, Venus is placed in the 12th house (secretsvictims, the past) and it rules the 3rd (communications) and 8th houses (sex, crime, abuse).

Although the theme of this lunar eclipse speaks loudly, a quincunx (awkward) between the Ceres-Moon conjunction and Neptune suggests that something's a bit off. Why? Because
with Pisces rising, Neptune has the distinction of being the chart ruler. More so, it conjuncts the Ascendant from the first house and squares the Midheaven (reputation, fame/infamy).

While the square emphasizes the public spotlight, the quincunx during the lunar eclipse suggests that something may be revealed that raises questions about, or possibly even discredits, some aspect or person strongly associated with this movement.

Getting Personal

The hard aspects - conjunction, square and opposition - are the ones most likely to coincide with an event because they're provocative by nature. That's why those born under a Leo, Aquarius, Taurus or Scorpio Sun, or those who have planets or sensitive points in this signs at or near 11° Leo, are the ones most likely to experience it's influence as a revelation, a culmination or an ending.

The energy of this eclipse suggests that some of you may experience a revelation and/or feel compelled to assert your independence, in connection to a family member or a domestic situation. Whatever it may be, the quincunx to Neptune suggests that you may feel unsettled about dealing with the matter. However, whether that discomfort is because you lack clarity and/or sufficient information or because you need to take actions and/or make adjustments that are uncomfortable will depend upon your personal horoscope.

Finally, since the moon rules women and a full moon is about endings, it's not uncommon for a lunar eclipse to coincide with a woman leaving your life. To be clear, this isn't to say that someone is going to die; rather, a co-worker may unexpectedly resign or a friend may announce she's moving to another city.
Which life areas in your chart will be activated by the lunar eclipse? That depends upon where it falls in your personal horoscope.  If you don't know which house holds 11°37' Leo in your chart, you can refer to the list below to find out where the full moon lunar eclipse falls in your solar (sun-sign based) chart). Since a full moon involves the Sun and the Moon, it falls across two houses in your chart, so be sure to consider the life areas of both houses.

If your Sun Sign is:

Aries, it falls in your 5th house (romance, children, creative self-expression, entertainment). Read the 11th house as well.
Taurus, it falls in your 4th house (home, family, real estate, parents). Read the 10th house as well.
Gemini, it falls in your solar 3rd house (siblings, neighbors, short trips, cars, contracts, negotiations.). Read the 9th house as well.
Cancer, it falls in your 2nd house (income, spending, personal values, self-esteem, tangible assets). Read the 8th house as well.
Leo, it falls in your 1st house (your physical body, attitude towards life). Read the 7th house as well.
Virgo, it falls in your 12th house (spirituality, creativity, mental health, addictions). Read the 6th house as well.
Libra, it falls in your solar 11th house of goals, casual friends, colleagues and group relationships.
Scorpio, it falls in your 10th house (career, fame, status, reputation). Read the 4th house as well.
Sagittarius, it falls in your 9th house (education, law, religion, foreign and long-distance travel, publishing). Read the 3rd house as well.
Capricorn, it falls in your 8th house (intimacy, shared resources, other people's support, birth, death, estate matters). Read the 2nd house as well.
Aquarius, it falls in your 7th house (marriage and all one-to-one relationships including best friends, adversaries, business partners and clients). Read the 1st house as well.
Pisces, it falls in your 6th house (health, work, pets, diet, nutrition). Read the 12th house as well.

Releasing with the Leo Lunar Eclipse

You can release anything under any full moon, but since this a lunar eclipse it's energy is more potent than usual. Saturated in Leo energy, the energy of this full moon lunar eclipse can be especially helpful for releasing?

Negative beliefs connected to romantic relationships, social gatherings, creative talents and expression, pregnancy and children, athletic ability and fun in general. It's also helpful for releasing a romantic relationship that no longer interests you.

Traits such as conceit, vanity, egotism, belligerence, extravagance, arrogance.
Last but not least...

Mercury will do its retrograde dance three times this year. To learn when each cycle will occur, as well as the start and end of the pre- and post-retrograde shadow periods, click here to view my 2018 Mercury Retrograde Calendar

Until next time,

May Jupiter's blessings be your constant companion,
