This month's new moon in Sagittarius makes a tight square to Neptune. Normally, this aspect would infuse the new moon with a disheartening energy, which was the case when Neptune squared the Gemini new moon earlier this year.
While it's very possible that Neptune's influence on this new moon will follow suit, it's also that it's influence will be blindly optimistic.
Why? Because every Sagittarius new moon is brimming with optimism, faith and a never-say-die attitude, and while Neptune's vision can be discouraging, its also the stuff that dreams-come-true and happily-ever-afters are made of.
Although this may not seem like the most likely outcome given the hard nature of the square, there's still a strong chance that this new moon will be called Pollyanna rather than Debbie Downer.
And that's because while the square does often coincide with challenges, as the action-producing aspect of astrology, its purpose is to make things happen (good, bad or indifferent) happen.
Plus, with benevolent, generous and lucky Jupiter (generosity) ruling this new moon, there's a good chance there are quite a few blessings stored in this one.
One final note: Although Mercury isn't retrograde during this new moon (it's actually not moving at all), it's just a technicality because it stations retrograde less than 24 hours later. Yes, it's still facing forward, but it's also at a complete standstill and its energy is a bit wonky, so it's very possible that your intentions could a little longer to germinate.
If that turns out to be the case, it could be the Universe's way of telling you that on some level you need to revise your intention.
