On July 1, 2011, there was a new moon solar eclipse at 9°13 of Cancer. A few days later on July 5, Casey Anthony was acquitted of all charges in connection with the death of her daughter, Caylee Anthony.
In Anthony's chart (source Astro Databank), the made a conjunction to her Moon (family) in her 4th house (family, residence). Since the Moon is the planetary ruler of her 5th house of children, the Moon also represents Caylee in her horoscope.
The eclipse also made an opposition to Neptune (vision, idealism, deception) in her 10th house (status, fame, reputation). Anthony has Pisces rising, which means Neptune is her chart ruler and represents her personally in the horoscope. Transiting oppositions usually coincide with decisions, and since it opposed her chart ruler, the decision would impact her on a deeply personal level.
Finally, and most important, the eclipse made a trine to her natal Pluto (death, abuse, felonies, transformation) in her 8th house (other people's resources, which includes their time, support and trust, as well as their money). Pluto also happens to be the planetary ruler of her 8th house.
A trine is a highly favorable aspect that typically yields a positive outcome, and this one was extremely potent because the orb (range) of the aspect was less than 1°.
Putting it Together
The opposition created by the eclipse (conjunct Moon and opposite Neptune) represents the decisions that had to be made by the jury.
Was she guilty (Neptune) or not of a crime against Caylee (Moon)?
Was she guilty (Neptune) or not of providing false information (Neptune) to law enforcement (10th house authority figures)?
And what would be her residence (Moon)? Would she spend remain in prison (Neptune) or be released?
Although Anthony was found guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing false (Neptune) information to law enforcement (10th house), she was acquitted of the Pluto-ruled felony charges (murder and child abuse).
The acquittal of those charges stems from the trine to Pluto (felonies, murder, child abuse) in her 8th house of other people's support and resources. In this case, the other people were the jury and the resources were their votes.
Anthony's trial was a highly publicized national event (natal Neptune in the 10th, which can be fame or infamy) and public opinion was polarized when it came to her guilt or innocence.
Anthony was sentenced to four years in prison (Neptune) for the misdemeanor (fraud) convictions. However, she received credit for time served, and on July 17 she was released as the transiting Moon made its way through Aquarius (freedom, controversy).
Transits
There were several significant planetary transits going on at the time as well. As stated earlier, Neptune represents Anthony personally in her horoscope.
Not only was transiting Pluto was making a conjunction to her Neptune (and had been doing so and off), but on the day of the verdict, transiting Jupiter was making an exact trine to it.
Looking only at those transits, it's easy to see that whether the verdict was for her conviction or her acquittal, Anthony's life (Neptune) would be radically transformed (transiting Pluto).
Pluto is about irrevocable change, and for the rest of her life (and in her obituary after she dies), her role as the defendant in her daughter's murder trial will be part of her reputation. Not only that, but despite her acquittal, she continues to be viewed as guilty (Neptune) by many in the court of public opinion.
Alec Baldwin
Without a reliable birth time, it's not possible to interpret the influences with the highest degree of accuracy. However, there are still quite a few takeaways based upon his Baldwin's natal planets (Astrodienst).
Since last year, transiting Pluto has been squaring Baldwin's natal Jupiter. While there are many potential manifestations associated with this aspect, the one that proved true for Baldwin is being involved some type of serious criminal activity (Pluto) that results in a conflict (square) with the law (Jupiter).
At 29°50' Aries, the April 20 solar eclipse was:
Conjunct his natal Mercury at 0°21 Taurus (tightly applying from out of sign)
A transiting conjunction signals the beginning or (as it seems in this case) the end of a matter
Mercury is the messenger and represents decisions and news
Taurus represents financial resources. My thinking here is that the dismissal of the charges will save him money in related criminal attorney fees in the near future. Down the line, it could help bring down the amount of the financial settlement (or award if it goes to court) related to the civil suit.
Opposite his natal Jupiter at 28°24' Libra
A transiting opposition often coincides with a decision
Jupiter is the greater fortune and is associated with law, freedom and release
Libra represents the courts, lawsuits and prosecutors
Sextile his Venus at 27°10' Aquarius
A sextile is a supportive influence that often coincides with opportunities
Venus rules courts, lawsuits, prosecutors and justice
Aquarius represents freedom and controversy
Trine his Pluto at 0°7' Virgo
A trine is a highly favorable influence that typically yields a positive outcome
Pluto rules the murder charges
Virgo represents work. Hutchins death occurred on the job, and it was reported back on February 22 that "Rust" would resume filming on April 20 (you can't make this stuff up).
There are a few other eclipse aspects (opposition to his North Node-Neptune conjunction in Scorpio). Although they have relevance, they are not controlling so in the interest of time, I am omitting them.
Transits
Like Anthony, there was also a Pluto transit in effect in Baldwin's chart. In addition to making a square to the solar eclipse, Pluto was also making a square to Baldwin's natal Mercury.
Breaking it down, transiting Pluto (felonies, criminal activity) square (action producing) his Mercury (news, decisions, documents, filing) coincided with news that the manslaughter charges were going to be dismissed (eliminated). Again, since Pluto is associated with irrevocable change, the odds are strong that it's going to stick.
Is a Cardinal Solar Eclipse the New "Get Out of Jail Free" Card?
While some may view these occurrences that way, others will feel that the solar eclipse delivered justice. Either way, the reality is that we can't reach any such conclusions based on just two incidents.
However, what is notable to me is that in both cases the orb of the trine from the solar eclipse to their respective Plutos was less than 1°. It's definitely something I'm going to keep an eye out for in the future.
Astro Bonus
No matter how badly Baldwin has behaved over the years, he always manages to get back into the public's good graces, and the astrological reason why is because the USA's natal moon (the public) is at 27°10 Aquarius, and it is EXACTLY conjunct his natal Venus (also at 27°10 Aquarius).
Between individuals, the tender, nurturing and protective nature of the Moon blends with the affection, attractive and agreeable nature of Venus to create a loving placement that is frequently seen in relationships of all types that last a lifetime. In this case, the relationship is between a celebrity and the general public.
