Subject: Aquarius New Moon + Year Ahead ✩ Planetary Forecast & More

Dear Stargazers,

Eclipse-related events can occur up to a month early, and over the years I've seen many cases where events connected to a lunar eclipse occurred two months earlier. When they do occur earlier, it's not uncommon for them to occur exactly one (or two) months before the exact date of the eclipse. I've experienced this personally a few times during the past several years.

That said, it's very likely that many of you have already experienced an event connected to the upcoming 2/10 lunar eclipse on your chart, in which case the forecast coming in the February 5 issue will provide validation and understanding but not foresight.
In an ideal world where I had plenty of time to spare, I would have shared the potential influence of both upcoming eclipses weeks ago. Looking ahead, I expect to discuss the August eclipses much further in advance. Along the same lines, I simply didn't have time to finish the eclipse mini-lesson so I'm postponing it until we get closer to the summer.

With that said, it's time to say:

Happy Birthday, Aquarius!

Your solar year starts off with support from Saturn in Sagittarius, encouragement from Uranus in Aries and blessings from Jupiter in Libra, and you can count on this planetary trio to have your back until October 10, at which time the first of two major shifts will take place.

Specifically, on that day Jupiter will enter Scorpio for a year-long visit. Although the Scorpion doesn't see eye to eye with the Water Bearer, it won't stop Jupiter from bringing opportunities your way. However, there is a catch. Since they're being delivered courtesy of a challenging aspect (a square), the less sterling qualities of Jupiter (laziness, impatience, excess and exaggeration) may have a hand in them. If so, they're likely to test your resolve, your restraint and your judgment. This isn't to say there won't be golden opportunities; it's just that you'll need to discern which ones are 14 carat and which are fool's gold.

You'll be able to count on Saturn's stabilizing energy to balance Jupiter's influence through December 18th, but comes the 19th Saturn will join Pluto in the sign of one of your heavenly neighbors, Capricorn, while Neptune continues to move through the sign of your other neighbor, Pisces. Since the influence of neighboring signs tends to be neutral or at best mildly supportive, you can expect little support from them.

So where does that leave you? Uranus, your planetary ruler, will still be in your corner but it's primary role will be to help open your mind and prepare you for the significant, and likely fast and furious, life changes you'll be experiencing over the next several years.

Ready or not, your life is about to change.

How you ask? As always, it depends upon your personal horoscope but there are two different waves of change headed your way.

The first wave comes to you courtesy of the eclipse cycle in Leo and Aquarius, which introduced the first of seven eclipses on August 18th, 2016 at 25° Aquarius. On February 10, there will be a lunar eclipse at 22° Leo, which will be followed by a pair of eclipses in these signs in August 2017. There will be four more eclipses in 2018 and the final one will take place in January 2019.

Since the degrees of these eclipses will range from 0° to 28°at some point every single Water Bearer (as well as every Leo, Scorpio and Taurus) will experience an eclipse to his or her Sun. Eclipses are known as game changers, accelerators and course correctors because they coincide with significant endings and beginnings

The second wave of change will come to you courtesy of your planetary ruler. In 2018, Uranus will move into Taurus and over the next eight years, it will square (challenge) your Sun, and by the time it's finished, your life will be revolutionized and/or liberated in some way.

Although Aquarius is a progressive sign, it's also a fixed one, which means it doesn't always take well to change. Changes triggered by eclipses, as well as by Uranus, can take you by surprise, be rooted in crisis or be the miracle you gave up on years ago. If there are any circumstances or relationships in your life that keep you chained to the status quo and prevent you from moving forward, they may be the target of Uranus lightning.

The key to working with these energies is to understand their purpose. In this case, it's a very simple one: It's to set you free so you can soar.

Jan. 27:    Mars enters Aries

Best Days

While there are other days during this time frame that fine, these are the best of the bunch. What do I mean by the best? The energy is flowing, the moon isn't void and there's a greater likelihood for happy and/or productive outcomes.

Jan. 25, 30;
Feb. 1, Feb. 4 (until 5:42 PM EST)

Best Avoided

The energies on these days aren't favorable for new ventures or any activity where you want or need a definite result. If you must schedule something, you may have to think on your feet, or there may be a need for patience or flexibility.

New Moon at 8°15' Aquarius
January 26, 2017 | 7:07 PM
Washington, DC

When I sat down to write about this new moon chart today, something about it seemed familiar. I couldn't place it, but I felt as though I've seen this chart before.

As I examined the planetary activity in the chart, I was struck by the lack of aspects to this new moon. Were it not for an out-of-sign sextile from Mars, this new moon would exist in its own little planetary duet and be isolated from the rest of the chart.

Since it wasn't giving me much to write about from an aspect point of view, I decided to look up the meaning of the Sabian symbol for 8°15' Aquarius. It said:

A flag is seen turning into an eagle.

And then it hit me. The reason this chart looked familiar is because the house overlay (the house cusps) of this chart are virtually identical to Donald Trump's natal chart.

So what does it mean? To me, it validates my belief that certain circumstances are promised (predestined) in the natal chart. Whether or not that promise is fulfilled depends on the free will of the individual.

Looking at Trump's chart, the new moon falls in his sixth house of service as he begins his new work as a civil servant. While you may interpret it differently, I feel this Sabian symbol reflects the spirit of the message he conveyed in his inaugural speech

When I think of the promise of a new moon in Aquarius, themes of fellowship, brotherhood and humanity immediately come to my optimistic mind. However, themes of rebellion also belong to Aquarius, and given the virtually unsupported position of this new moon, I wouldn't expect the protests to end any time soon.
Getting Personal

So which life areas are being targeted in your life by this new moon? They're revealed by the horoscope house that's hosting this new moon at 8°15' Aquarius in your chart. If you're not familiar with your natal chart, you can learn which house holds the new moon in your solar chart (this is Sun-sign based astrology) by locating your Sun sign in the list below.

Manifesting with the Aquarius New Moon

You can set any intention under any new moon but when it's in Aquarius, it's especially favorable for:

Actions, intentions and affirmations
to further your personal hopes, goals and wishes, attract like-minded friends, initiate or advance social reforms and humanitarian causes, start or promote group activities, find skillful astrologers, metaphysicians, holistic healers, electricians and computer experts.
Lunar New Year
Year of the Fire Rooster

The first new moon of the year welcomes the Chinese new year. There are 12 signs in the Chinese zodiac and 5 elements (fire, water, earth, metal and wood). Over the course of a 60-year lunar cycle, every sign is celebrated in each element.

Like western (and vedic) astrology, there's a lot more to it than the above nutshell version. I have zero expertise in this discipline, but I celebrate the Chinese New Year and always read my yearly forecast.

Like western astrology, there's a lot more to it, especially the forecasting, than the general horoscopes published in magazines and on the Internet, but like most I enjoy reading them. If you do too, you can click here to find your Chinese zodiac sign and read your 2017 horoscope.
Until next time,

May Jupiter's blessings be your constant companion,
