Dear Stargazers,

Since the upcoming Capricorn eclipse is on Tuesday, July 16 I'm sending this newsletter out now instead of Sunday so you'll have this information sooner rather than later.

For additional insights, including a more detailed discussion about how this intense eclipse is likely to influence you, click here to listen to the July 8th episode of Shortcut to the Soul which is all about the upcoming eclipse.

Speaking of the podcast, I'll be taking the show on hiatus for a few weeks and will be back on August 1 with a new episode.

And now, let's take a look at the celestial events that are in store for us.
PLANETARY FORECAST
JULY 15 - 28

All dates are given in the Eastern Time zone.

PLANETARY EVENTS

July 16:  Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn
July 19:  Transiting Mercury retrograde enters Cancer
July 22:  Transiting Sun enters Leo
July 27:  Transiting Venus enters Leo

BEST DAYS

While there are other days during this time frame that are fine, these are the best of the bunch. What do I mean by the best? The energy is flowing, the moon isn't void and there's a greater likelihood for happy and/or productive outcomes.

July 19, 22, 26, 27

BEST AVOIDED

The energies on these days aren't favorable for new ventures or any activity where you want or need a definite result. If you must schedule something, you may have to think on your feet, or there may be a need for patience or flexibility.

July 17, 18, 21, 24, 28

NOTABLE ASPECTS

July 17: Venus opposite Saturn
July 18: Venus trine Neptune
July 21: Venus opposite Pluto
July 21: Sun conjunct Mercury
July 24: Mercury conjunct Venus
July 25: Mars trine Jupiter
PARTIAL LUNAR ECLIPSE at 24°04' CAPRICORN

Since a lunar eclipse occurs during a full moon, it's associated with endings, culminations and bringing things to light, but what sets it apart is its intensity and its unpredictable nature. The truth of the matter is that eclipses (especially the lunar eclipse) can deliver a blindside or a miracle. That's why astrologers refer to them as game changers.

The Lunar Eclipse Chart

For me, the focal aspect in this chart is the Moon-Pluto conjunction. This aspect adds a lay of emotional intensity to the eclipse that can trigger powerful, and perhaps even extreme, emotional reactions in the days leading up to it as well as up to five days after it occurs. Pluto's conjunction to  the Moon means it's opposing the Sun, which in turn suggests that for some of you these intense feelings could be in response to a perceived challenge to your sense of authority or self-expression.

The potential influence of this eclipse on you your life depends upon whether it aspects any planets or personal points in your chart, and if so, whether the energy of such aspects are supportive or challenging.

If you have any planets or points at or near 24° of Capricorn, Cancer, Aries or Libra, you're more likely to experience the stressful side of this energy. However, if you have other transits of a supportive nature going on simultaneously, this energy could help you accomplish a goal or even catapult you to success. Either way, it's likely to be intense.

As for the transiting South Node in Capricorn, its position at 17°39' Rx (meaning it's moving away from Pluto which is 21°50 Rx and the Moon which is at 24°04') is too remote to influence this eclipse. The same is true for Saturn at 16°31' Rx.

That being said, there's a Venus/North Node conjunction in this chart that is actively opposing the Saturn/South Node conjunction. Even though it's not activating the eclipse, its energy suggests that some of you may be facing a financial or relationship-oriented decision that will have far-reaching consequences. However, with Neptune trining the Venus/South Node conjunction while simultaneously sextiling the Saturn/North Node conjunction, the outcome of this decision will likely be a positive one.

On another note, Mercury is retrograde during this eclipse, which means events (including eclipse-related ones) could be delayed until August 16 (one month to the date of the eclipse) or until the eclipse point is triggered by a hard aspect (square, opposition, conjunction) from a transiting planet.

When will this eclipse point be triggered? Transiting Venus in Libra will square this eclipse point on October 3-4, and transiting Mars in Libra will square it from November 9 -11. Of the two planets, Mars is more likely to trigger an event than Venus because its energy is stronger and its known for its inflammatory nature.

If you do experience an event around the eclipse, you could find yourself dealing with some aspect of it again when the eclipse point is triggered.
Getting Personal

So which life areas might be this eclipse be targeting for change in your horoscope? Look to the house that hold  24°04' of Capricorn in your natal horoscope. However, since a lunar eclipse (it's a full moon) involves the Sun and the Moon, you need to consider the life areas ruled by the opposite house as well.

If you're not familiar with your natal chart, you can refer to the list below to find out where the eclipse falls in your solar chart (sun-sign based astrology). If you know your rising sign, you want to consider that one as well.

If your Sun sign or Rising Sign is:

Aries, the lunar eclipse falls in your solar 10th house of career, status and fame. Read the 4th house as well.
Taurus, the lunar eclipse falls in your solar 9th house of foreign travel, higher education, legal matters and publishing. Read the 3rd house as well.
Gemini, the lunar eclipse falls in your solar 8th house of intimacy, other people's money and support, jointly-held assets and transformation. Read the 2nd house as well.

Releasing with the Capricorn Lunar Eclipse

You can release anything under any full moon, but since this one is saturated in Capricorn energy AND it's a lunar eclipse, it's especially powerful for releasing:

Negative beliefs, fears or circumstances connected to parents, bosses, authority figures, ambition, achievement and your personal and/or professional status.

Traits or tendencies related to melancholy, loneliness, fear, depression, rejection, inhibition, greed, materialism, callousness, social climbing.

TRANSITING MERCURY RETROGRADE IN CANCER
July 19 - 30 Retrograde

On July 19, Mercury will backpedal into Cancer, which means its introspective energy can be helpful for recognizing unconscious patterns, reevaluating family dynamics, identifying emotional needs and developing intuitive gifts. Its energy can also be a positive influence for organizing family photos, researching family history and attending (or coordinating) a family reunion. However, a potential downside to Mercury in Cancer is that while looking back can be fun, we don't want to get stuck there, especially if it has its share of hurts, heartbreaks and regrets.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LEO!

Dedicated with love to my daughter, Laura.
Wherever you are, there's the Sun.

Although the rest of the signs may not care to admit it, Leo is the star of the zodiac. Ruled by the Sun, which represents the life force, those born under the sign of the Lion are meant to be in the spotlight.

Hard as they may try, no other sign celebrates life with as much joy, enthusiasm and panache as Leo. This is not to say they’re perfect, mind you. While they’re innate nature is warm, loving and generous, they can at times be vain, self-centered and more than a bit melodramatic. In short, their fiery nature can singe a heart as easily as it warms it. >>Read More

TRANSITING VENUS IN LEO
July 27 - August 21

While in the sign of the Lion, Venus is confident and if there’s a spotlight, odds are high that it’s shining brightly on her.

If not, you can bet she’s standing in the wings waiting for her big break, because deep down in her soul, Venus in Leo knows that it’s simply a question of when, not if, the limelight will find her.

Although she can be quite flirtatious in the sign of romance, Venus is the planetary ruler of committed unions and has little interest in playing the field. Despite her playful ways, Venus in Leo is in it for the long haul and refuses to settle for anything short of a loyal, loving, passionate and attentive partner who sets her heart on fire. >>Read More
