May 9, 10, 11, 18

BEST AVOIDED

The energies on these days aren't favorable for new ventures or any activity where you want or need a definite result. If you must schedule something, you may have to think on your feet, or there may be a need for patience or flexibility.

TRANSITING MERCURY IN TAURUS
May 13 - May 29

On May 13, we'll experience an energetic shift as transiting Mercury leaves the quick-acting sign of Aries and moves into the cautious sign of Taurus.

So what can you expect? The nature of Mercury is curious, analytical and reflective, and since Taurus is the natural ruler of the second house of earned income, its presence will focus the collective consciousness on thoughts of financial security.

Mercury is also the planetary ruler of accounting, and while in Taurus it prompts you to review your finances and answer what for some may be a very uncomfortable question: Do you have enough resources to draw upon? Will you have enough in the future? Do you have a balanced budget or does it go out faster than it comes in? For some, this evaluation may be a wake-up call if past purchases, investments and other decisions concerning money fail to stand up to the demands of today's economy.

Finances aren't the only resource subject to review now. Taurus also presides over our values and self-worth. What principles do you hold dear? What are your priorities? Is your self-esteem well developed or do you suffer from bouts of insecurity?

If you discover that you need to take corrective actions, the good news is that Taurus is a highly fertile sign. Consequently, steps taken now will ultimately prove fruitful, although it will likely require some discipline, determination and patience on your part.

On the other hand, if you're happy with your circumstances, this influence may inspire you with new ideas about how to further develop and nurture them.

NEW MOON IN TAURUS
May 15, 2018 | 7:48 AM
Washington, DC

As the ruler of the second house in the natural zodiac, Taurus presides over finances, including how you earn it, how easily (or not) you spend it and how well (or not) you manage it.

The second house is also in charge of tangible goods and services, which means it describes what you buy with your money. In other words, it identifies the types of purchases that are meaningful enough that you're willing to part with your hard earned cash. You see, value is of the utmost important to the Bull and while it always chooses quality over quantity, it's known to splurge on luxury items. Last but not least, Taurus presides over your self-esteem. In short, how much (or how little) you value yourself. As a result, this is an excellent period to take inventory of your self-worth.

Since the Bull is by far the most industrious, determined and committed sign in the zodiac, this lunar energy supports actions and intentions that involve long-range goals. As it happens, this new moon is beautifully supported by Mars (action) and Pluto (transformation), which makes it perfect for setting intentions and taking actions designed to increase your financial or personal net worth.

Note:  While there is a Mars/Uranus square in this new moon chart (it becomes exact at 3:03 AM on May 16), its potentially volatile and inflammatory influence is distinct from the new moon (and setting your intentions) because there are no applying aspects to it. I'll be posting guidance on social media about how to work with this influence on May 14 because many of you will start to feel its effects that day.

Getting Personal

So which life areas are being targeted in your life for a new beginning? They're revealed by the horoscope house that's hosting this new moon in your chart. If you don't know which house holds 24°36' of Taurus in your horoscope, you can refer to the list below to find out where the new moon falls in your solar (sun-sign based) chart.

If your Sun sign is:

Aries, it falls in your 2nd house (income, spending, personal values, self-esteem, tangible assets).
Taurus, it falls in your 1st house (your physical body, attitude towards life).
Gemini, it falls in your 12th house (spirituality, creativity, mental health, addictions).
Cancer, it falls in your 11th house (groups, associations, hopes, casual friends, colleagues).
Leo, it falls in your 10th house (career, fame, status, reputation).
Virgo, it falls in your 9th house (education, law, religion, foreign and long-distance travel, publishing).
Libra, it falls in your 8th house (intimacy, shared resources, other people's support, birth, death, estate matters).
Scorpio, it falls in your 7th house (marriage and all one-to-one relationships including best friends, adversaries, business partners and clients).
Sagittarius, it falls in your 6th house (health, work, pets, diet, nutrition).
Capricorn, it falls in your 5th house (romance, children, creative self-expression, entertainment).
Aquarius, it falls in your 4th house (home, family, real estate, parents).
Pisces, it falls in your solar 3rd house (siblings, neighbors, short trips, cars, contracts, negotiations).

Manifesting with the Taurus New Moon

You can set any intention under any new moon but when it's in Taurus, it especially favors:

Actions and affirmations to boost your income, increase your earning potential, attract material assets, strengthen your self-esteem and assist you in establishing new priorities This lunar energy is also helpful for attracting qualified financial planners and investment experts into your life.

TRANSITING MARS IN AQUARIUS
May 16 - November 15, 2018

When the planet of war is in the sign of humanitarians, free thinkers and good old fashioned protesters, he rallies to the cause and leads the charge. Normally, he would be in Aquarius for about six weeks, but this year he'll be wearing the rebel's clothes for almost five months.

Why so long? Because on May 12, Mars will begin to slow down, and on June 26 it will station retrograde at 9°13' Aquarius. From that point until August 27, Mars will backpedal through the zodiac until it stations direct at 28°37' Capricorn on August 27.

Since Aquarius is an air sign, the Water Bearer leads with its head. With courage and passion to spare, Mars fights for what he believes is right, and the fixed nature of Aquarius adds fortitude to his personality. In short, he holds his ground until he wins, and if he doesn’t, he goes down fighting.

However, the influence of ruler Uranus means that Aquarius often thinks in extremes, and depending upon whether it's expressing its higher or lower side, it can be a genius or a maniac. When you add in the courageous, impulsive and inflammatory nature of Mars, this particular planetary combination is capable of far-reaching achievements or extensive destruction.

While Mars is in Aquarius, you can expect to get in touch with your inner rebel in connection to some area of your life. As for the potential to channel one's inner genius or unleash one's inner lunatic, that depends specifically on one's horoscope.

On that note, I'm going to say that I feel we can expect to see headlines reflecting both extremes during the summer months with July being the month to watch. Why July? Because transiting Mars retrograde will make an exact conjunction to the lunar eclipse on July 27.

I'll be sharing more about the upcoming Mars retrograde cycle and its potential meaning for you in early June so stay tuned!
TRANSITING VENUS IN CANCER
May 19 - June 13, 2018

After several weeks of non-stop activity in Gemini, it was time for Venus to check out of the sign of perpetual motion and into the cozy, soothing and nurturing atmosphere that Cancer calls home.

Thanks to her rulership of Taurus, Venus has an earthy side that enjoys a comfortable home, hearty meals and well-stocked cupboards.

Although she appreciates comfort foods, Venus in Cancer will never be a domestic goddess like the Moon because the she-crab’s aprons are a bit too rustic for her style. Still, while she’s immersed in this domestic and family-oriented sign, she shares many of the Crab’s values. Consequently, she may find herself browsing the real estate section, reading home and garden magazines and daydreaming about the pitter-patter of little feet.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GEMINI

Your sharp intellect, quick wit and extraordinary gift of gab consistently earn you the top spot on everyone's guest list.

With a restless spirit, endless curiosity and the heartfelt belief that life is a banquet, you're here to show us that variety really is the spice of life.
TRANSITING URANUS IN TAURUS
May 15 - November 6, 2018

The big news is that after 84 years, Uranus will return to Taurus for approximately 5 months before retrograding back into Aries.

During this time, we can expect a preview of what's to come when Uranus begins its tour through the sign of the bull, and for some of you, this preview will be quite personal.

I have A LOT to say about this cycle, but as I've been dealing with some health issues (my own - shingles - and my dog's - an eye infection), I've fallen
behind in some areas and my interpretation of the influence of Uranus in Taurus on a global level (it's much more than just crypto currencies!) level, as well as how you can expect it influence to impact your own horoscope (and your life!) was the biggest casualty.

On that note, you can expect a special issue all about Uranus in Taurus that (fingers crossed) should land in your inbox before the end of this week.

That wraps up this week's issue. Remember to keep an eye on your inbox for a special issue on Uranus in Taurus!
