FULL MOON at 17°20' SCORPIO
May 7, 2020 | 6:46 AM
Washington, DC

Full moons occur when the Sun and Moon are at the exact same degree but in opposite signs, and as it happens, this month's planetary pair is the Taurus Sun and the Scorpio Moon.

Since Taurus rules the second house of individual resources and Scorpio rules the eighth house of other people's resources, there's a focus on income, money, goods, grants, loans, unemployment payments and debt. With Mercury opposing the full moon, we can expect to hear a lot more about these issues during the coming week.

On another note, this full moon puts a spotlight on balancing our physical needs with our emotional ones. Unemployment and shortages have many walking on an emotional tightrope these days, but the moon's trine to Neptune suggests many will experience some type of emotional relief.

Getting Personal

No matter what's going on in the world, a full moon puts a spotlight on specific life areas according to your personal horoscope. The house in your horoscope that holds the full moon reveals which areas in your life may be coming to fruition or to an end.

If you don't know which house holds 17°20' of Scorpio in your horoscope, you can refer to the list below to find out which house the full moon falls in your solar chart. Since a full moon involves the sun and the moon, be sure to consider the life areas ruled by the opposite house as well.

If your Sun sign is:

Aries, the full moon falls in your solar 8th house of intimacy, other people's money and support, jointly-held assets and transformation. Read the 2nd house as well.
Taurus, the full moon falls in your solar 7th house of lawsuits and one-to-one relationships. Read the 1st house as well.
Gemini, the full moon falls in your solar 6th house of work, health, service and pets. Read the 12th house as well.
Cancer, the full moon falls in your solar 5th house of romance, children, creativity. Read the 11th house as well.
Leo, the full moon falls in your solar 4th house of home, family, real estate, parents and intuition. Read the 8th house as well.
Virgo, the full moon falls in your solar 3rd house of siblings, short trips, transportation and all types of communications. Read the 9th house as well.
Libra, the full moon falls in your solar 2nd house of money, income, values and self-worth. Read the 8th house as well.
Scorpio, the full moon falls in your solar 1st house - it's all about you, including your approach to life and physical appearance. Read the 7th house as well.
Sagittarius, the full moon falls in your solar 12th house of solitude, secrets, past lives, healing and psychic abilities. Read the 6th house as well.
Capricorn, the full moon falls in your solar 11th house of goals, casual friends, colleagues and group relationships. Read the 5th house as well.
Aquarius, the full moon falls in your solar 10th house of career, status and fame. Read the 4th house as well.
Pisces, the full moon falls in your solar 9th house of foreign travel, higher education, legal matters and publishing. Read the 3rd house as well.

Releasing with the Scorpio Full Moon

You can release anything under any full moon, but since this one is saturated in Scorpio energy, it's especially helpful for releasing:

Negative beliefs or fears related to intimacy, trust or shared resources, power, control, death, psychic matters or the ability to transform one's circumstances.

Traits or tendencies to be obsessive, cruel, controlling, vindictive, jealous, secretive, compulsive, vicious or paranoid.

SATURN RETROGRADE IN AQUARIUS:
THE MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACK
May 10 - September 29, 2020

On March 21, Saturn (control, limitation, fear) moved into Aquarius (freedom of assembly), and since that time we've experienced a global lockdown in response to Covid-19.

Aquarius is a groundbreaking sign, and this novel virus coincided with unprecedented government actions to ensure the well-being of their citizens by restricting (Saturn) group activities to varying degrees in their nations, states and cities.

While Saturn is here we're also seeing glimpses of authoritarianism (Saturn) in politicians who push the boundaries of their authority (e.g., NYC Mayor DeBlasio ordering unionized teachers to work on religious holidays and demanding that those who take off for religious observance be docked a sick day). On the flip side, we've seen protesters rebelling (Aquarius) against the government (Saturn).

Aquarius is also a defiant sign, and while Saturn is in Aquarius, we've witnessed that side of it not just in the form of protesters refusing to obey government rules regarding social distance and/or wear masks, but also in Sweden's decision to reject WHO's guidelines in favor of its own protocol. Whether Sweden's course of action proves to be a wise one remains to be seen, but it's willingness to go against conventional authority in favor of its own vision is very Aquarian.

So what happens after Saturn stations retrograde?

Retrogrades are always a time of reflection, and from now until September 29, everyone will be reviewing (dissecting is more like it) what went right, what went wrong and who's to blame. Not only for the pandemic but for the collapse of job markets, food shortages and national economies. While Saturn is retrograde, and especially so while it's still in Aquarius, we can expect protests against various levels of government (Saturn) on a national/international level.

What's more, with Venus (money) going retrograde in Gemini (communications) from May 13 - June 24, we can expect to hear more about the economic fallout and continued/expected product and food shortages. Since Venus also rules values, here and abroad many will be debating whether the national/global scope of the lockdown was warranted.

On July 1, the energy will shift as Saturn retrogrades back into Capricorn. What can we expect from Saturn's retrograde through Capricorn? I'll be offering insights into that phase of Saturn's journey when we get closer to it, so stay tuned!
