The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County is a nonprofit service organization that supports its members through unified marketing, capacity building, professional development, and advocacy services. Yvonne Claveloux has a solo show at Gallery@Pearl, opening with a reception Tues. May 8, 5-7pm. Yvonne's abstract style is instinctive, leading to new and unexpected adventures. She uses a wide range of mediums, including chalk, acrylics, watercolors and gesso, and her inspiration comes from her travels, her Cuban roots and colorful winters in Miami. At right, Sour Apple (2018, acrylic on canvas, 12x12).
Eugenie Diserio's painting Phoenix Rising was selected for exhibit in the Women Of Power LiveGirl Benefit event and Fempower online gallery at www.golivegirl.com.
The Fashion Show + Art/Music Showcase is Sat., May 12, 4:30-6pm at The Carriage Barn Arts Center. At right Phoenix Rising (2018, acrylic, glitter on canvas, 40x 60, click for complete image). “There is a girl. She is wise and wary of flames, but still, she knows she will survive the fire life scorches sometimes. She has been a phoenix before and every time she burns to ashes, she knows exactly how to rise again." - Jeanette LeBlanc, Girl on Fire.
Joan Wheeler is exhibiting the painting Morning Glory  at Kehler Liddel Gallery, 873 Whalley Ave, New Haven.  from April 26 through May 27. Kehler Liddell Gallery presents its 2nd annual juried show, this year taking inspiration from a quote from Shakespeare: "How with this Rage shall Beauty hold a Plea?." “What is the point of making beautiful things, or of cherishing the beauty of the past, when ugliness runs rampant?” asks Alex Ross in the 2017 New Yorker magazine article “Making Art in a Time of Rage.”  Joan says, "This 14x11 oil painting expresses my heartfelt joy when hearing the beautiful birdsong that heralds the coming of spring."
